War Stories Comic Review

Hi Thunder Scorpion here with my review of Garth Ennis’ war stories Volume 1 and 2, each Volume has four stories with various artist’s and I like all of the art it’s great, very realistic and detailed and the stories are great with lot’s of  action and gore. War stories is defiantly a must read for anyone who is a war comic fan.  The only down side is that a lot of the stories have sad endings all though I don’t  mind it.

War stories vol 1

War stories Vol 2

  • Johann’s tiger 8 out of 10
  • D-day dodgers 9 out of 10
  • Screaming eagles 7 out of 10
  • Nightingale 7 out of 10
  • J for jenny 7 out of 10
  • The reivers 7 out of 10
  • Condors 10 out of 10
  • Archangel 7 out of 10

D-day dodgers is about the british soldiers fighting in italy during the second world war it’s an epic story with a  sad ending and a cool song at the end it’s just fantastic. The comic I rated highest, Condors is about a group of soldiers from different countries during the Spanish Civil War that take cover  in a crater and tell their stories of how it is that they got to be there.  I would like to see the Condors comic turned in to a movie.  Garth Enni’s war stories is worth the read just for the two comics I just mentioned, but there is that and more.

Haunted tank comic review

Haunted tank #1

Hi Thunder Scorpion here with my review of the five issue series the Haunted tank.  The Haunted tank is back and this time it’s a m1 Abrams in modern-day Iraq.  When african american tank commander Jamal Stuart is visited by the spirit of confederate civil war general J.E.B Stuart who has returned from the grave to assist his descendant who isn’t what he expected. Needless to say tank commander Jamal Stuart is less than happy with the presence of their new ghostly guest the two have an uneasy relationship as the tanks crew and it’s ghost guardian fight their way deep into the heart of Iraq.  The story started out ok with good art and lots of action and a funny interdiction but after the first few issue’s the story started to drag on and then it just got terrible, focussing on shock value more than good story telling .  And the ending was one of the worst I’ve ever read in a comic. Believe me when I say there is a big steaming dog turd at the end of this one.  It’s a shame the story went the way it did because the first issue’s where good but because of the horrible ending I have to give this 5 out of 10 if you want to give it a try its readable for the first issue’s but that’s about it.  You can get the comics at the  following link:  http://www.mycomicshop.com/search?TID=16089351&AFFID=645316P01″>BuyHauntedTankcomicbooks</a>

sgt rock hc

Hi Thunder Scorpion here with my review of Sgt Rock the lost battalion.  This  story is inspired by true event’s, from the bloody beaches of Normandy to the muddy  forests of the Vosges mountains.   Sgt. Rock and Easy Company  are joined by Johnny Cloud, the haunted tank and other DC War Heroes as they battle for their lives whilst cut off  behind enemy line’s against a force ten time’s their size.  The story is of  heroism and humanity as one small band of soldiers defy all odd’s to survive.  The best part of this comic is Sgt Rock every thing else is just ok and the art wasn’t bad, but at time’s the digitally colored pencil drawings make the art appear far too light and ephemeral.  It’s an ok comic but it wasn’t something  that I haven’t seen done before. I give it 6 out of 10 if you like Sgt Rock  or if you like war comic’s then you might want to give this one a try.  You can collect all six issues or get it in hard cover at the following links:  http://www.mycomicshop.com/search?TID=15763201AFFID=645316P01″>BuySgtRockcomicbooks</a>  or http://www.tfaw.com/Profile/Sgt-Rock-The-Lost-Battalion-HC349309TID8908&AFFID416450″>BuySgtRockcomicbooks</a>
