I,ve been enjoying an App called Manga Storm on the iPad, it allows me to read all sorts of Manga for free,  it’s not perfect, but it’s a great way to read Manga on the go I’ve already sunk hours into it you can get it for free at the App store.

Godzilla: The Half Century War #1

The story begins in 1954 Tokyo Japan as a column of Sherman tanks rolls in and encounters a Giant Godzilla they open fire on it, in response Godzilla breaths radioactive energy down on them destroying all but one tank as the two surviving soldiers Lieutenant Ota Murakami and his friend Kentaro Yoshihara navigate through the ruin streets of Tokyo as Godzilla moves on towards the evacuating civilians. Ota and kentaro bravely fire at Godzilla in order to lure him away, but the battle ends with Godzilla retreating to the safety of Tokyo bay as the navy then bombards it. The issue ends with Oto and Kentaro joining the A.M.F Anti-megalosaurus Force as Godzilla still poses a dangerous threat. I am a huge fan of James Stokoe’s works and like with Orc Stain it would seem as though he has done it again with this amazing new Godzilla comic, The art is fantastic the story is great I can’t get enough of Stokoe! Battle Royale Vol 2 (2)

Battle Royale Vol 2

The volume starts off with student Kazuo Kiriyama murdering his whole gang seemingly on a whim after he uses a simple coin toss to decide where or not he will play along with the program and kill his classmates the way he kills his loyal follower Mitsuru was especially cold, meanwhile students Sakura and Kazuhiko sit on the lege of a cliff and recall a date they once went on before deciding to refuse taking part in the program by jumping to their deaths, back with Shuuya and Noriko they come under attack by  new student Tatsumichi in the struggle Shuuya and Tatsumichi go off a cliff and Tatsumichi is killed by his own weapon then class president Kyoichi arrives with the intent to kill as Shogo Kawada shows up to shoot him down becoming an unlikely ally for Shuuya and Noriko as they eagerly join forces together and try to make it out alive, later friends Yumiko and Yukiko come up with the idea of haling out on a megaphone in an attempt to reach out and reason with their fellow students not to play the game this plan totally back fires when Kazuo shows up and kills them in cold blood. I love the realism in this manga it’s not imposable for something like this to  really happen, it asks important ethical questions and reminds us that you never known who people really are until there under presser. Deltora Quest Anime

Deltora Quest Anime

Hi Thunderscorpion here, I saw the second Berserk movie Battle for Doldrey I was disappointed it was like watching Berserk in on fast forward and there were times when the CG was stiff and they cut too much of the story I really think the old anime is better I hate when they use flash backs without any contexts for people who didn’t watch the older anime or read the Manga I can image them being very confused. I’ll watch the next Berserk movie Descent, but if things don’t slow down and get better than I may drop the movies all together. I’ve been watching the Deltora Quest anime lately, only the English Sub version I hate the dub of this anime with a passion. I actually like the anime better than the manga, the anime is much better righted then the manga, but the Book is better than both. I really enjoy these reviews and I hope you will too.

Rasl #14
The issue starts with Rasl and agent crow in a heated discussion about the Tesla journals when Sal shoots at Rasl and miss. Adams orders her men to arrest Sal, but Sal suddenly kills her and her men instead as Rasl use’s his machine to escape to a parallel world. Meanwhile, Rasl dust himself off and call’s Uma asking her to meet him at Lucky’s Bar when they both arrive and Rasl orders a drink, but he suddenly interrupted when Sal walks in gun’s blazing as everyone duck’s for cover and Rasl quickly gets the drop on Sal tying him up and leaving him in the Bar’s freezer. The issue end’s with Rasl and Uma driving out into the desert as they park in a secluded location and share a passionate kiss and a certain little creepy girl appears looking in through their window. Why didn’t Rasl just kill Sal when he had the chance. Also that creepy girl is so cool always showing up at random. ( 8 out of 10 )

Age of Reptiles: The Hunt #1
The issue begins with a mother and child dino lounging underneath a seemingly unstable rock formation when a trio of horned carnivores attacks them and the mother dino is killed, but the young one is able to escape. Several session’s later the young dinosaur has grown and is still being hunted by the same pack of horned carnivores when the chase leads the pursued dino, which I’ll be calling the Red carnivore from now on for account of its looks, hides inside the corp.’s of a large dead dinosaur, and I though they smelt bad on the outside…. meanwhile, he takes off as the horned dinos start eating his hiding place and after running though the desert and eating a few small blue dinos with a taste for tongue, must be French…. the red carnivore takes in some well needed rest before wakening up surrounded by the horned dinos, when suddenly the ground beneath them caves in and they fall into an underground cavern. the issue ends with the Red carnivore discovering a light in the tunnel as the horned dinos crowd him from behind causing them all to fall out off a ledge and into a canyon river below. so far the first Age of Reptiles comic is still the best, but this was great too. ( 8 out of 10 )

Baltimore: The Curse Bells #5
The story continues with the bells having been rung and the towns people having been turned into mindless zombies as Lord Baltimore is curiously unaffected by the curse and is able to strike down the Barbarian’s feathered servant as he then fights his way through the halls of Vampire Nuns before it is revealed that the Barbarian man is the incarnation of Hitler or something like that, as he exclaims his aspirations for conquest and it finally becomes clear to the tainted Nuns that his promise to cure them was a lie so they seek their redemption in feasting on his flesh. Elsewhere Haigus and Blavatsky from a kind of alliance before Baltimore arrives and Haigus turn’s into A Bat and flees. Then Baltimore frees MR. Hodge from his cell as he cleverly avoided the effects of the curse by plugging his ears, they bear witness to the vampire Nuns as they let them self’s burn in the sun light reduced to ash and the issue ends with Lord Baltimore and MR. Hodge parting ways as the Inquisitor later revisits the convent and seeks MR. Hodge for Questioning. ( 8 out of 10 ).

Comic Reivew March 12, 2011

Hi Thunderscorpion here went to go see the premier of Battle LA the other day. When I first saw the commercials for the movie I though district 9 was gonna have a sequel and that the prawns were back for revenge.  The movie was great it was kinda like black hawk down, but with aliens.  Also I heard about the tsunami and earthquake in japan, it looks like the beginning to Evangelion over there with the buildings under water in stuff  anyway here are the reviews enjoy.

Mouse Guards The Black Axe #1

The issue begins with the guard mouse Celanawe working on constructing a new Frostic outpost alone near the sea-shore while elsewhere an aged mouse named Em discovers that she and Celanawe are the last of their family’s line and she sets out to meet her kin when she arrives at the frostic outpost riding a top a crow she is warned by Celanawe to stay quiet and leave with him because they are being hunted, but suddenly the crow starts making noise and it is attacked by a pack of savage weasels, so the two mice hide themselves in the woods and make a narrow escape as Em use’s her ability to communicate with birds to call a duck to aid them and there are able to make it safely out to sea. The issue ends with Em giving Celanawe a note from the Bronwyn telling him to follow Em’s every order and then Em tells him that there quest is for the fabled Black Axe. ( 8 out of 10)

Baltimore The Plague Ships #4

The issue begins with Lord Baltimore and Vanessa sitting by the camp fire  talking when the subject of Lord Baltimore’s family is brought up and another layer of tragedy is added as we learn that when Lord Baltimore returned home from the war he found out from his wife Elowen that his parents and sister where dead. While staying with his wife he becomes ill and one night while he rested in bed he was alarmed to hear that a doctor was there to see him fitting the description of the vampire Haigus so Lord Baltimore raced to his wife only to find her already murdered by Haigus.  Later Lord Baltimore attends his wife’s funeral and stays until night when his undead vampire wife walks out of a mausoleum and trys to embrace him, but then a priest steps in and convinces Lord Baltimore to slay his undead wife.  The issue ends in the present back on the beach where Lord Baltimore and Vanessa continue to talk when the strange fungus from before starts to suddenly bloom in to strange flowers. Yes, Beware the fungus flowers : ) another great issue I give it ( 8 out of 10).

Rasl #5

The issue begins with Rasl at Annie’s house where he talks with her about the need for her to find some place safe to stay at and also his plan to go to a parallel world to get funds for them to going to hiding, but as he leaves the house and sits in his jeep he black’s out and recalls his past working with Maya and Miles. When he comes too, he later meets the Maya of this parallel world again while walking around and she offers to take him on a private tour of the museum and the issue ends with Rasl having a flash back where we learns how he came into possession of Nikola Tesla’s missing journals.  No recap at the beginning of the issue this time, but interesting story I give this issue (8 out of 10).

A Very Zombie Summer #1

Like the “A very Zombie Christmas” comics I’ve reviewed previously this issue consists of a small collection of short zombie stories.  The first of which is entitled “The Littlest Zombie Learns To Swim”  is about the littlest Zombie and how he manages to attack a small boat full of a group of survivors while walking under water on the floor of the lake by using a dead divers flippers.  The next story entitled “The Rott Stuff” is drawn in a manga style and is about a hair brained scientist and his two lovely assistants as their trapped on a platform on a beach surrounded by zombies created from a failed air freshener experiment. After that story there are a few zombie pin-up art pages and a short comic about zombies and the oil spill in the gulf of mexico. The issue ends with a preview of  “The Last Zombie #1” and it still looks great.  All in all this issue was ok, but no-where near as good as the “A Very Zombie Christmas” comics where I give it (7 out of 10).

Fubar vol 1

Since there are fifteen short stories  in this “World War II zombie comic” collection I counted the “Kilroy was here story part 1 and 2” as one story I’ll be rating them all and then filling you in on the best stuff.

  • The Day Of Days (6 out of 10)
  • Bearer Of Secrets (5 out of 10)
  • If God Be For Us (6 out of 10)
  • Kilroy Was Here Part 1 (7 out of 10)
  • The Valley Of Death (6 out of 10)
  • The Brief (5 out of 10)
  • Severed (1 out of 10)
  • Mother Russia (8 out of 10)
  • Stalemate (6 out of 10)
  • De Guer (5 out of 10)
  • Four Days Ahead (5 out of 10)
  • Golem’s Last Stand (4 out of 10)
  • Kilroy Was Here Part 2 (7 out of 10)
  • Heroes Of The Soviet Union (5 out of 10)
  • Bingo(5 out of 10)
  • And The Crowd Goes Wild (7 out of 10)

As you can see by my ratings I only liked a few of the comics shown, most of the comics were drawn well enough, but a lot lacked in story telling which I understand it is hard to write a good fulfilling story in such a short comic, but still some manged to be very entertaining, the comic I liked the best was “The Mother Russia” comic it was drawn very well and had a great atmosphere.  It’s about a female Russian soldier named Svetlana Orlova.  She was once an accomplished dancer who joined the Soviet army after her family was killed by German bombs.  One day as she was sniping out the “Walking Dead” below from her towering position, she spots a young child walking along amongst the zombie’s so she sprung into action saving the child before being cornered by the undead when their suddenly saved  by a german shepherd named Thor and the dogs master a german officer named Otto Von Steiner. The story ends with the two agreeing to help one another to escape so that they can get to her tower that has food supplies enough to last  them all for years. There is suppose to be a mother Russia comic coming out some time in 2011 I look forward to it another comic that’s worth mentioning is Kilroy Was Here Part 1 and 2 which is a story about Sgt Kilroy and his two soldier companions nicknamed Fatty and Four Eyes as they barricade a house and later spend the night fighting off hordes of zombies.  All in all I give Fubar Volume 1 a (7 out of 10) there should be enough good World War II zombie action in the comic to please most zombie fans and I for one would definitely pick-up Fubar vol 2 when it comes out this fall.

Comic Review February 14, 2011

Hi Thunderscorpion here I know I’ve been putting off  my best comics of 2010 post so I promise that my next post will cover it, till then here’s some reviews all also note that I’ve been planning for future posts and I may do something different.

RASL#4

The issue starts off with a one page recap of what happened in the previous issue, which was a nice touch.  The story starts off in the pacific in the year 1943 where US Navy sailors witness strange and disturbing events as they try to rescue a distressed ship that suddenly disappears and leaves behind a large trench in the sea.  Meanwhile Rasl emerges from a portal created by his machine and come face to face with the strange faced man and after a short fight the strange faced man reveals that his name is Sal and he offers a deal to Rasl being that he won’t kill any of Rasl’s loved one’s in parallel worlds for forty-eight hours in return for some classified journals that Sal believes Rasl has in his possession later Rasl is confronted by a creepy little girl who insists that he go back to the parallel world where his girlfriend Annie is.  The issue ends with Rasl following the girls instructions and returning to Annie.  Wait till you see the creepy little girl in this, if I was him I would have run she looks like something from a horror movie. I give this issue ( 8 out of 10 ).

The Stuff of Legend The Jungle #3

The issue continues where they last left off with the animals taking the group of toys to be judged by their King who turns out to be a gigantic cobra called the Serpent King, but he’s has a grudge against humans and he has the group separated and sends the human toys  the Jester, Harmony and an ill Anya to a place called the hunting ground.  He then orders the animals toys of the group be judged to see if they can earn a place in the animal tribe. Later the animals of the group are guided by their friend Monty and he explains the past of the animal tribe and  how there was a war between the animals and humans orchestrated by the boogeyman.  Meanwhile at the hunting ground Jester sets off alone to confront a pack of predators  hunting them to save his friends. Elsewhere in the dark the toys master and his companion sneaks through the boogeyman city in search for a way out and the issue ends with Percy the pig standing on trial before the Serpent King as max the bear breaks in and takes the blame to save Percy. I loved this issue especially the part where the Jester go’s midevil on the animals that was a great scene I give this issue ( 9 out of 10).

Baltimore The Plague Ships #3

The issue continues with Lord Baltimore’s ghastly encounter with his vampire nemeses Haigus. After which he comes to realization that he has somehow brought about the horrific plague in the process.  Meanwhile back in the present, the ship that Lord Baltimore and Vanessa are on moves into rough sea’s then there is  sightings of a gigantic flying jelly fish followed by the ship sinking, but Lord Baltimore save’s Vanessa before drowning and the two end up shipwrecked on a deserted island known as the Furiani Graveyard for its many shipwrecked submarines on its shores, but while searching the island the two discover an abandoned plague ship. Upon closer inspection they see that a strange fungus is growing out of a hole in the ships hull, so they follow it to its source and inside the ship they find a coffin with a corpse inside with a gut full of the fungus, but to Vanessa’s surprise she is grabbed by a zombie and they both fall under attacked by the ship’s undead crew. Luckily Baltimore makes short work of them and the issue ends with Vanessa and Lord Baltimore making a fire and spending the night out on the beach. I like this comic series and I think it’s really under rated.  I also hear that there’s a book that this comic is based-off of I’d like to read it someday if it’s better than the comic like they say then it should be great I give this issue ( 8 out of 10).

The Littlest Zombie #2

The story begins at a shadow government military base deep underground where a pint size little girl genius conducts experiments on captive human survivors and zombies with the help of her army of genetically engineered supersoldiers.  As she completes a report on a solution to the zombie epidemic and releases an imprisoned littlest zombie elsewhere at the secret  underground base a vengeful general Faukker is plotting to strike against her, but little does he know that she has prepared for such a situation setting up her super soldier with tazers her secret weapon against the generals toxic troopers, but things go aria as the base is assaulted by a force from another underground facility as well as survivors from the surface catching the super soldiers off guard and forcing the little genius girl to eject herself to the surface nearly escaping as bombs go off all over the facility and the issue ends with the little genius girl running away at surface level with zombies following close behind. ( 6 out of 10)

It Was The War Of The Trenches HC

This comic is not for the faint of heart featuring a collection of dark world war one story’s focusing on the hardships of the french soldier on the front line’s it reads more like a book then your standard comic with lots of narrations the story’s share anti-war theme’s and does so by showcasing the horrors and injustices of war through the comic’s disturbing and graphic imagery.  The art and story are done by french creator Jacques Tardi.  The art is very detailed and gritty capturing the mood of the time very well.  In the end the comic is less of a war story and more of  a story about humanity and serves as a dark warning of the evils of war. Comic Review January 25, 2011

Hi thunder scorpion here. The best comics of 2010 post I had planed on making is taking me longer then I expected, so in the mean-time I thought I’d post a new set of comic reviews.

GUERILLAS  VOL 1

I read the first four issue’s of this comic back when it was with Image comics and I was disappointed when I heard that new issue’s would not be made, but instead that there would be a TPB and that the book would come out at a different company this time called Onipress. The comic itself starts with an introduction by Jackson Publick the creator of the venture brothers animated tv show, where he explains why the comics creator Brahm Revel was not able to work on the comic because he was working on the show, but it would appear that Brahm now has some time on his hands and will be continuing his comic projects. The Guerillas comics story starts off with the main character private John Clayton on his first patrol in Vietnam, but as he witness the horrors of war he begins reminiscing his past and starts to regret his reason of going to war for the purpose of pleasing his father, but the fighting becomes intense as the vietcong  ambushes his platoon and private John is left as the lone survivor of the attack with the vietcong advancing towards him things look bleak when suddenly a platoon of chimpanzees armed with m16’s and dressed in US military fatigues attacks the vietcong and save’s him.  At first John is terrified of the creatures in particular the group’s ape leader named Goliath, but luckily John find’s a place for himself in this odd platoon as cigaret lighter for these apparently smoking ape’s meanwhile a Dr Heisler readys his lab experiment baboon named Adolf and gathers a team of marines to go deep into Vietnam with him in search of his twin brother and his Guerilla secret weapons. I loved this comic when I read it a few years ago and I still love it now the action was intense the story was fantastic and the art was amazing all that plus its ape’s with machine gun’s what more could you ask for I give it. (10 out of 10)

BALTIMORE THE PLAGUE SHIPS #2

This issue continues with Lord Baltimore and Vanessa after having escaped from jail finding a ship’s crew willing to take them to Livorno while aboard Vanessa ask’s lord Baltimore why he hunts the one vampire in particular and the horrorable scene’s of his past are shown as we learn that Lord Baltimore was once a soldier and that while in the army he once went on a night attack where his whole company was killed and he was shot in the leg and left for dead amidst the body’s of his fallen comrades when suddenly a flock of gigantic vampire bats surrounds him and starts feasting on dead body’s when one bat closes in on him and Lord Baltimore cut’s its face with a bayonet getting one of its eyes in the process, but the vampire bat grabs him and breathes something into his leg before flying off with the other bats and later Lord Baltimore  awakes in a hospital to find one of his legs amputated and the issue ends with him being disturbed at night in bed when he see’s the sacred faced vampire in his room.  Great comic the battle scene with Lord Baltimore and the vampire bat was master full I give this ( 8 out of 10).

RASL#3

This issue begins with Rasl emerging from a swirling ball of light caused by the amazing machine he strapped on previously. Once he recovered from his painful trip he discovers that he has arrived in the parallel world where he was first attacked by his girlfriend Annie’s killer the strange faced man. While checking out the parallel world’s town he reminisces about the past and we learn that two years ago Rasl along with his friend and partner named Miles and his wife Maya who he was secretly cheating with where working on a project to create an incredible machine based on concepts pioneered by Nikola Tesla. Later in the present Rasl visits the lab where he once worked at in the parallel world and meets this worlds Maya. After this chance encounter he arrives at his girlfriends house and spy’s on the Annie that lives in this parallel world when suddenly from a distance he see’s the strange faced man kick down her door gun drawn with the intent to kill Annie again and the issue ends with the strange face man taking a  strange machine like the one Rasl has from the trunk of his car and using it to get transported to another parallel world as Rasl tells Annie to get somewhere safe and straps on his machine and goes after him. ( 8 out of 10)

THE LITTLEST ZOMBIE #1

The issue start’s off with the littlest zombie scrounging around in search for food when he discovers a dead human body and trys to feast on it, when he has his find stolen away from him by a huge fat zombie and a truck with survivors in it. Suddenly it crashes into the side of a building. As the survivors run inside they take a water purifier with them that they intended to bring back to their camp for the other survivors, but as they hold out inside the building the big fat zombie walks into the doorway and they shot out its knee caps making the fat zombie a fleshy corps barricade while inside we learn that one of the survivors is responsable for the groups problems by having messed up their mission by staying longer in order to get himself drugs and we learn that another survivor in the group is actually a marauder spy and as they discuss whether or not to sell out their friends back at the camp to the marauders a crowd of zombies outside begin to tunnel thru the fat zat zombie barricade and a group of survivors shows up in a vehicle  from the camp after  having heard their talk of  betrayal over a radio that the group thought wasnt working so the spy sets off a grenade and most of the group sacrifices themselfves by throwing themselfves over the water purifier and the grenade saving the survivor camp for certain death  and leaving only drug user guy left alive that is until the littlest zombie eats him and the issue ends with the Littlest zombie finally enjoying a proper zombie feast ( 7 out of 10)

THE SECRET HISTORY#12

This issue takes place in the year 1942 and starts off with Curtis in an air plane somewhere in the pacific when the air crafts crew spots a nazi submarine unloading black stones to the japanese soldiers so they bomb them and destroy many of the stones.  Meanwhile in a German factory two resistance spy’s sneek around and take photos only to discover that a horrific looking man in a nazi uniform is performing some kinda dark ritual.  Later the Archons, Rekia and Erlin devise a plan and send aircraft on a mission to destroy a dam in order to flood the factory. Then the story goes to Los Alamos where plans for creating the worlds first atomic bomb is in development and the issue ends with Philby recovering a new rune giving him the power to swing the balance of the war in favor of either the Axis or Allys ( 8 out of 10).

Comic Review October 12,2010

Hi Thunderscorpion here today with the comic reviews that I promised. Later on I plan to post a review of  the Predators comics that I recently  finished reading so if you like the movie then you can check out my Predators  comics reviews when it become available.

Age of Reptiles #2

This issue continues to follow the dinosaur head as it now travels thru a desert at one part  pass thru a small watering hole full of large crocodiles, but things get surprisingly gruesome as a swarm of small rapture like dinosaurs attack the herd and tears some of the dino’s to shreds.  Later the carnivore form the first issue take’s some of the dead dinosaurs remains and gives it to her two offspring that accompany her.  The issue ends with the herd resting for the night under the stars aswell as the carnivores in the distance.  Like the first issue, this issue was esquizet. (9 out of 10)

Battlefields#9

This issue concludes the mother land storyline starting off with captain Anna being assigned six new recruit’s to train with little time to spare before they are expected to be called in to join the coming battle, but captain Anna manages to convince the Colonel to give the rookie pilots a little more time to train, but things come to a tragic conclusion when the caption is shot in her leg while piloting her air craft  and the Colonel after being wounded severely decides to end his life by crashing his plan into german tanks.  the issue ends with captain Anna finding her squad of rocky pilots lost and escorting them back to base. The mother land story’s ending seems to lack some of the greatness that the first Night Witches comic had, but it was an enjoyable  read and I will continue to look forward to later continuations of the story.   (7 out of 10)

28 Days Later#14

This issue continues where the last issue left off with the group trapped in the train with the infected breaking down the door to reach them. With time running out quickly the character Derrick tragically sacrifices himself by staying behind to separate the train compartment saving Clint and Selena after grieving their ordeal the two spend a night in a bar, but the next morning while searching for a car they are jumped by two thug’s Selena and Clint manage to restrain there would be attackers and go on their way with their car, but before leaving  one of the two mugger claims that the car they tuck belongs to the Kingdom of Edinburgh. The issue ends with Clint and Selena discovering a bunch of corpses hanging from a freeway overpass with the words Glasgow Go Home right above. This was a good issue, but there was one retarded scene where Clint and Selena walk in to a cage in the middle of the road you’d think there would be more suspicious after all that  they’ve been thru. (7 out of 10)

Orc Stain #3

This issue starts off with the one-eyed orc relaxing in the Normans shack when pointy face’s orc mob catches up with him and surrounds the shack, lucky the one-eyed orc is prepared using his amazing ability to destroy things with a single strike using his trusty hammer he demolishes the shack with pointy face and his orc’s still in side, one-eye then races thru Scrubtown as group’s of orcs fire arrows at him he manages to reach a hot air balloon before orcs launch rockets at it severing it from the ground causing it to zoom off with one-eye still aboard, but as he is escaping he gets shot by a poisoned arrow fired by the group of shady orc’s that have been searching for him. The issue ends with the air balloon landing in a jungle and one-eye being discovered by a Nymph. (9 out of 10)

Neon Genesis Evangelion Campus Apocalypse vol 1

Yet again another Evangelion alternate reality manga has been released with neon genesis evangelion campus apocalypse being I think the third alternate reality manga out there.  In this new alternate reality Shinji’s lives with his legal guardian Kaji who curiously does not make an appearance in this volume.  So shinji attends school at Nerv Academy with his fellow class mates Rei and Asuka as well as his teacher Misato. When a new student named Kuworu arrives shinji is surprised to see that the new student look like the person he saw last night running in the street with Rei when he was using a vending machine and found a strange object, after school he see’s the two walking together and decides to follow them only to see Rei attacking a  bird with a strange spear after she throws the spear at the bird it explodes and another object appears like the one shinji found. Kuworu then shows up taking the object and thanking him when suddenly they are attacked by a strange man with powerful ability that Kuworu and rei refer to as an angle. After intense fighting Rei and Kuworu are beaten and become unconscience leaving shinji alone as the angle charges for him he yells and a bright light appears and some how saves them and in classic evangelion fashion he awakes in a hospital bed later on he learns that Asuka is part of the group and Shinji receives a weapon they called an eva that each of the four have, when the angle come backs for round  two his time with the body of a young girl he attacks shinji but Asuka arrives just in time to save him as shinji protects a little girl who witnesses the battle and gets caught between  the cross fire, but lucky shinji manages to save the day using his eva weapon ability to defeat the angle this was an interesting manga and I have lots of question that I  hope will be answered in the next volume. I give it (7 out of 1o)

Comic Review September 24,2010

Hi Thunderscorpion here I could have brought you this review earlier but I decided to put more variety in the comic which mean’t that I had to wait a while to get more comics for this review anyway’s here’s the comic reviews.

age of reptiles#1

age of reptiles#1

Age of Reptiles #1

I bought this comic on a whim not knowing what to expect. Then I read it and it surprised me there wasnt any dialogue, but the art was really amazing it was breath-taking and very expressive you can really read the emotions of the dinosaurs on there face’s as they scurry about and react to danger. This kind of comic would not have worked so well had not the art been so fantastic the story is also very good it’s about a large herd of dinosaurs that’s migrating.  There’s a very exciting scene where a big carnivores dinosaur attacks a young triceratops I loved this comic and I am now a fan of this books creator Ricardo Delgado’s work.  Incidently me and this books creator share the same last name my real name is Ben Delgado and I give this master work.  (9 out of 10)

Battlefields#8

In this issue Anna Borisnova Kharkova is promoted to captain and leads a squad of Russian air craft in a pre-emptive attack on the Germans, but things go awry as German air craft ambush the Russian strike force after intense dog fighting captain Anna returns to base and is awarded with the prestigious gold star metal and the order of Lenin metal.   At the end of the issue we learn that the colonel has a tragic past in which he lost his family to the war.     (7 out of 10)

mouse guard legends of the guard #3

mouse guard legends of the guard #3

Mouse Guard legends of the Guard #3

In this issue there are four story’s told the first one is drawn in a cartoon like style and is about a mouse named fox who was raised by two childless foxes after being found one day as a orphaned baby mouse years later he decides to leave his fox parents to go on his own still believing that he is a fox. While on his journey he see a pair of mice that are about to be eaten by a fox and decides to rescue them by cleverly out foxing the fox in to the clutches of a hungry bird.  This first story was dare I say at the risk of sounding un-manly very cute.  The next story has no dialog it’s about a muse that gets persuaded by a painter mouse’s painting to slay an owl in order to become a king, but when the mouse reaches the owls layer he soon learns that the painting did not accurately portray the owl’s ferocity.  After nearly escaping the mouse return to the painter mouse for revenge and to correct the painting. The third story entitled The Ballad of Nettledown is about a mouse that saves a town from a flood by swallowing the rushing water a hole it was not a very realistic story to say the least and finally the last story is a mouse adaptation of Edgar Allan Poe’s famous story  The Raven.  All in all there was some great story’s with some great art I give it.  (8 out of 10)

orc stain #2

Orc Stain #2

This issue was hard to find, but I’m glad I got it.  The story starts off with Pointy-face and One-eye heading to Skrubz to pay their tribute to Norman. When they arrive it appears that they have shown up empty-handed so Norman sentence’s them to the chop block.  When One-eye trys to give him a bag of coin as payment  he discovers that Pointy-face has robbed him.  Since Pointy-face has the coin he gets released.  While One-eye gets taken away by two guards to the chopping block they chain him down and a crazed orc with an axe comes out to chop his gronch off, but then suddenly the One-eyed orc’s eye turned red and he sprung in to action knocking the orc with the axe down and escaping while destroying a structure in the process.  Once freed One-eye finds Pointy-face taking a leak against the side of a building and smacks him with his hammer causing Pointy-face’s gronch to fall off while in pain Pointy-face then swears vengeance on him as One-eye takes his gronch and leaves giving it to the Norman he is then forgiven and offered to stay awhile in the Normans empty shack then he is warned that Pointy-face will get a mob of angry orc’s to come after him and also of the dangers of traveling south the issue ends with a group of shady looking orc’s  searching for the One-eyed orc.   (9 out of 10)

War is Hell First Flight of the Phantom Eagle Comic Review

Hi Thunderscorpion here with my review of Garth Enni’s War is Hell: First Flight of the Phantom Eagle. The story take’s place during world war one when a mysterious aviator called Kari Kaufmann arrives on the western front dressed outlandishly and with his own plane. His overconfidence and romantic ideals of what it’s like to be a fighter pilot are soon shattered in his first combat mission. In time he becomes aware of the hard reality of war and what it takes to become a veteran fighter pilot. The story reminded me a lot of the movie Fly Boys  except it had a lot more gore and humor. The art is good, parts of it are drawn in a computer like style that is different than most comics I’ve read.  It’s not bad, but I prefer a more colored by hand look. All in all I thought it was a good read. (7 out of 10)    you  can collect all five  issue’s or you can get it in TPB or HC.

Comic Review August 3 2010

Hi Thunderscorpion here with the last comic reviews until I get some more comics.  This comic review and the last four comic reviews were part of an order I got that came in the mail a few weeks ago so I’m out of reviews until I get some more, but it probably won’t be long before I get some more. Anyways here’s the last comic review for a while.

The Secret History Book 11

While Curtis, in command of a squadron of Spitfires and fights in the Battle of Britain the Archons search for Itsak’s rabbi’s papers, and there’s an assassination of Heydrich all this leads to the village of  Lidice being destroyed in an epic explosion.   (7 out of 10)

The Last Zombie #1

This issue mostly set’s the stage for the plot it’s about this scientist who joins up with a group of soldiers that have been sent out on a mission to rescue survivors in Virgina. The scientist insisted on going on this mission in the hope that he might find his fiance who is at a base in Virgina that they have lost contact with.  The art was good and I look forward to see were the story go’s next. Note: there’s a short story towards the end called the littlest zombie it was in the a very zombie christmas comic and I am not a fan of it.  (7 out of 10)

Aliens vs Predator #4

In this issue the Predator and marine fleets attack the evil predator clan base. There was plenty of action with a massive assault with marines and predators dropping in and the evil predator sending in their alien swarms it was very chaotic with the drop ships flying blind with no radar, and the issue ended with the marines dropping a bomb on the enemy predators base. (7 out of 10)

Mouse Guard Legends of the Guard #2

This issue continues the story telling in the Inn with three more story’s  the first story is about a guard mouse that kills a bear and watches over a village. The second story is about two courageous mice that tie a toad to a bird and ride it a cross a field. The third story is about a mouse banker that out smarts and defeats a feared minks and then rescues the wolfpointe chefs daughter.  I liked all the story’s but I think the second story is the best, this time I just imagined seeing a bird flying by with a toad attached to it.  (7 out of 10)

The Terminator 2029 #3

In this issue we learn that Kyle Reese has come back from the past to send this friend Ben back in time to save him and maybe stop the war from ever happening. Ben is hesitant at first saying no, but changes his mind when his girlfriend Paige is killed by a terminator.  The issue ends with Ben being sent back to Los Angeles, California  in the year 1984.  I look forward to the continuing of the story in the comic The Terminator 1984 #1.  (7 out of 10)

Comic Review August 1 2010

Hi Thunderscorpion here again with some more comic reviews for you.

The Secret History book 10

This comic starts off great and only gets better.  In the beginning there’s  Awrence and Curtis in the Arabian desert were there’s a walled city with british soldiers stationed inside and then the two end up in this massive battle between an army of men on horse back with sabers, and  british  soldiers with their artillery and airplanes.  The two barely escape the epic siege  alive.  The battle was spectacular and after that the story go’s to Soviet Ukraine were Itzar is in the middle of  a civil war with enemy encounters regularly occurring Itzar journeys to Siberia with enemy close on his trail.(10 out of 10)  This is the best secret history book so far.

Orc stain #1

I have been looking forward to reading this one for a while now. The story go’s like this it’s about this one-eyed orc guy that cracks safes, and there’s this great orc chief called Orctzar that is searching for him because he was told that the one-eyed orc is the key to what he desires.  The art in this comic is amazing the pages are so detailed and colorful you can spend hours just looking at all the different  strange creatures and settings. It’s just fantastic (9 out of 10)

The Stuff of Legend The Jungle #1

The issue starts off with the toys young master wakening up in a room.  He at first thinks that what happened to him was a dream, but he soon discovers that he is still in the boogeyman’s world.  The group of toys get’s in to a skirmish with the boogeyman’s minions and then they proceed to an area in the boogeyman’s land known as the zoo in search of their master. After spending a night in the ruins of the zoo they awake to find that the boogeyman’s army is surrounding them. The issue ends with gigantic creatures known as golem rising out of the ground (8 out of 10)

A Very Zombie Christmas #1

This comic’s a collection of zombie story’s the first story is about a WWII GI and his platoon fighting nazi zombie’s it was great. The second story is about a small zombie kid that eats some people and then the third one is about some guy who cheat’s his fellow theifs and leaves them to die and then they come back  as zombie’s and get their revenge. The first story was the best by far it’s the only reason I like the comic the art is just great in it and come on its nazi zombies!..  (7 out of 10)

Mouse Guard Legends of the Guard #1

The issue starts out in an Inn were the owner makes an offer to clear the tab off any mouse that can tell a good story with these specific rules that the story told has no complete truths and no complete falsehoods and that she has never heard the story before.  So the mouse in the inn started to tell their story’s the first story is about two mouse one that served a hawk and one that served a fox whom were ordered to defeat one another, the second story is about a mouse that helped save a bat with a broken wing, and the third story is about a warrior mouse and his weasel steed. I enjoyed all the stories they were all done in different art styles.  I liked the last story the most  because there’s nothing like the bond between a mouse and his weasel… (8 out of 10)
