Hi Thunderscorpion here, I attended the Art Show and sold some Art I made for $55.00 and I used the money to buy some hard to find Berserk Volumes.  Photos of the Art are available upon request. I,ve been enjoying an App called Manga Storm on the iPad, it allows me to read all sorts of Manga for free,  it’s not perfect, but it’s a great way to read Manga on the go I’ve already sunk hours into it you can get it for free at the App store.

Godzilla: The Half Century War #1

The story begins in 1954 Tokyo Japan as a column of Sherman tanks rolls in and encounters a Giant Godzilla they open fire on it, in response Godzilla breaths radioactive energy down on them destroying all but one tank as the two surviving soldiers Lieutenant Ota Murakami and his friend Kentaro Yoshihara navigate through the ruin streets of Tokyo as Godzilla moves on towards the evacuating civilians. Ota and kentaro bravely fire at Godzilla in order to lure him away, but the battle ends with Godzilla retreating to the safety of Tokyo bay as the navy then bombards it. The issue ends with Oto and Kentaro joining the A.M.F Anti-megalosaurus Force as Godzilla still poses a dangerous threat. I am a huge fan of James Stokoe’s works and like with Orc Stain it would seem as though he has done it again with this amazing new Godzilla comic, The art is fantastic the story is great I can’t get enough of Stokoe! The Last Zombie: Never land #2

Battle Royale Vol 2 (2)

Battle Royale Vol 2

The volume starts off with student Kazuo Kiriyama murdering his whole gang seemingly on a whim after he uses a simple coin toss to decide where or not he will play along with the program and kill his classmates the way he kills his loyal follower Mitsuru was especially cold, meanwhile students Sakura and Kazuhiko sit on the lege of a cliff and recall a date they once went on before deciding to refuse taking part in the program by jumping to their deaths, back with Shuuya and Noriko they come under attack by  new student Tatsumichi in the struggle Shuuya and Tatsumichi go off a cliff and Tatsumichi is killed by his own weapon then class president Kyoichi arrives with the intent to kill as Shogo Kawada shows up to shoot him down becoming an unlikely ally for Shuuya and Noriko as they eagerly join forces together and try to make it out alive, later friends Yumiko and Yukiko come up with the idea of haling out on a megaphone in an attempt to reach out and reason with their fellow students not to play the game this plan totally back fires when Kazuo shows up and kills them in cold blood. I love the realism in this manga it’s not imposable for something like this to  really happen, it asks important ethical questions and reminds us that you never known who people really are until there under presser. Hi Thunderscorpion here the Art Show was a bust I was unable to go because of unforeseen circumstances, the next one is in March maybe I’ll be able to catch it then. On the bright side I recently got a package that contained Battle Royale on Blue Ray, It was awesome I even got my older sister to watch it and she liked it which is unusual, she doesn’t topically like what I’m in to. The manga is so much more violent as hard as that is to believe, Any ways enjoy the reviews.

The Last Zombie: Neverland #1

The issue begins at Neverland Ranch near Davis City Iowa, Not to be confused with the late Michel Jackson’s Neverland Ranch. where two children await the  return of someone as well and their parents Meanwhile, on the Missouri Iowa Border the APC’s crew are having mechanical troubles, so some of the soldiers decide to go out and stretch their leg’s, DR. Russo notes that DR. Ian’s condition has worsened when he starts to cough up blood. Later while the soldiers search for supplies, private Johnson and DR.Russo find themselve’s alone in a hardware store when they start to become intimate, but suddenly the floor caves in and they are sorrowed by a swarm of vicious rodents only nearly escaping being mauled to death. The issue concludes with tests on DR Ian being delayed as the group prepares to move out. Note: at the back of the issue there is a preview for the return to the planet of the living dead comic, but been there done that, I give this issue ( 8 out of 10 ).

Hi Thunderscorpion here!, that’s right I’m still reviewing even though it’s been awhile it’s hard for me to get the time to concentrate on making one of these reviews, but I’ve finally got one done.  The anime I’ve finished watching since my last review are “Mysterious Girlfriend X” and “Sankarea”.  Mysterious Girlfriend X is one of the grossest anime I’ve seen in a while because of the saliva aspect of the story.  I wasn’t sure whether or not I was supposed to be aroused or repulsed by it. Having said that I think it was a very nice anime and it was done in a very tasteful way for the most part; also Urabe is supper cute.  Next “Sankarea” what can I say I love zombies and this anime is a zombie romance that really works, although the whole decomposing thing with Rea was off-putting the drama was sold.  I just hope they kill her father at some point. Both of these anime’s need second seasons and I hold them firmly at ( 8 out of 10 ) well that’s it for what I’ve been watching, now on to the reviews and since I probably won’t make a new set of reviews untill after Christmas I’d like to wish you all a Merry Christmas!

Comic Reviews – July 31, 2011

Hi Thunderscorpion here, its been a long time, about 3 or 4 months I think.  Sorry for my absence I lost the ability to use the internet for a while, but I have it now and I’ve been  writing some new reviews that I plan on posting  in the weeks to come. For now at least I’m back and looking forward to reviewing for you.

Rasl # 7

In this issue we learn about how Rob Johnson, AKA Rasl believes that Nikola Tesla was responsible for the unexplained 1908 Tunguska blast in Siberia. Also, the revelation is revealed, that while Rasl worked at the compound with his friend Miles on the St. george project, the two had a falling out when Miles learned about how Rasl had hidden the fact that he had Tesla’s lost journals in his possession.  As a result Rasl was to be pulled from the project, but Rasl had other plan’s as he instead hijacked the array machine and for the first time transported himself to a parallel world.  Later in the  present-time Rasl awakens from his fight at the casino to be questioned by Sal and Kalani Adams the head of security from the compound. They both still want Tesla’s lost journals from him, but Rasl remains stubborn as ever as they give him only 24 hours to produce the journals and send him on his way. The issue ends with the creepy little girl from before making a short but chilling appearance. ( 7 out of 10)

BERSERK Vol 11

The story continues with Judeau, Pipin, Guts and Casca on the run after having rescued Griffith, when the ruthless Black Dog Knights led by the beastly Wyald starts to catch up with them carrying the corpses on pikes of a family that aided in the Band of the Hawks escape.  Later the cruel mob of criminals with their twisted leader will clash with the Band of the Hawk in an epic cavalry charge and Gut’s will face the dreaded Wyald, whom suddenly transforms into a monster and knocks Guts out of the fight before trying to violate Casca, but Guts springs back into action and after a brutal battle he manages to subdue the beast. The volume ends with Wyald coming back to life and grabbing Griffith with the intent of crushing the life out of him, when Nosferatu Zodd appears and kills Wyald, before speaking a few words and taking off. ( 8 out of 10)

The stuff of legend the Jungle #4

The issue begins with the Jester and the other toys finding the mayor of hopscotch tide-up hanging from a tree, when an indian named Artic arrives to help aid the ill princess, meanwhile, while on trial Max the bear confesses in front of the Serpent King and his friends the terrible truth that he is in-part responsible for what happened to the toy’s master and that while in the thralls of jealousy over the young masters pet puppy he opened the way for the boogeyman. Elsewhere in the dark the toys master and his companion run for their lives after having stolen a pie, but there luckily saved by a couple of friendly train conductors riding on a train called Bessie. Later, the boogeyman’s henchman Homer kills the General with a bat.  The issue ends with Max after having challenged and defeated the Serpent King and becoming the new king of the animals being ostracized by many of his friends for his treason. ( 8 out of 10)

The last zombie #3

The story continues with the group of soldiers discovering that what they thought where zombies were actually lepers, learning this too late for some as they gunned down a few diseased civilians in the panic. After settling things with the lepers understanding leader, they all go out in search of the missing doctor Scott finding him un-conscious in a mass grave that the lepers had been using to burn their dead.  Later doctor Scott awakes in the Armored Personal Carrier seemingly well and the issue ends with a group of raiding scout’s observing them from a distance before heading back to their large camp where lot’s more of them are preparing for an all out attack on the town.  I also note that at the back of this issue there is the un-holy night comic part 2.  I give the last zombie #3 ( 8 out of 10)

Comic Review May 8, 2011

Hi Thunderscorpion here I’ve been working on a lot of my other projects lately,  but recently I received a bunch of comics that I ordered and I plan on making a number of new posts; sometime after the 8th.  Till then here’s a new set of comic reviews .

The Littlest Zombie V.S The Littlest Vampire #1

This issue starts off at the old Rockefeller building where the Littlest Vampire, a little vampire girl with a distinctive lisp complains about having less than half a glass of blood to drink for dinner after it is explained to her that the supply of human blood is being rationed because of the zombie apocalypse, she throws a temper tantrum and is thrown in her room and grounded, but she soon checks out and scours the streets in search of survivors to quench her thirst for blood when she finds a small group of survivors made up of two men named Ben and Jerry and an orphan boy named spank who slyly snuck along for the ride. So the Littlest Vampire use’s her mind control powers on them and is surprised to see that the young boy spank was unaffected by her powers because of the night vision goggles he is wearing so she orders the two other men under her control to get the boy and in the process they trip one of their own traps and a grenade blows  the two men up and draws in a crowd of zombies as well as the littlest zombie, which chases after the boy along with the littlest vampire and the story ends with sly Spanky outfoxing them all and making a get away in his dead companions car unaware that the Littlest Vampire and Littlest Zombie are still clinging to the back of the vehicle. I loved this issue and I hope that they do more comics with the Littlest Vampire and the Littlest Zombie together in the future (8 out of 10).

Rasl#6

In this issue we get an interesting look at Nikola Tesla.  Where we learn many fascinating facts about Tesla’s life such as the fact that Thomas Edison created the electric chair as a way to discredit Tesla’s more advanced alternating currents form of electricity and that tesla had amazing ideas like wireless communication and end all wars super weapons that could protect the earth from invaders from outer space, mixed in with the brief history of Nikola Tesla we see Rasl up to his old tricks steeling priceless art in alternate worlds and selling them to art dealers elsewhere later while Rasl drinks and plays cards at a casino he is approached by Sal who asks him to go get the journals he wants but Rasl takes a swing at him and the two fight and the issue ends with Sal scoring a hard punch on Rasl. I really enjoyed the history of this issue that Nikola Tesla was a brilliant man I give this issue (8 out of 10).

Baltimore The Plague Ships #5

The issue continues where they last left off with the strange fungus flowers now spreading into the sea and suddenly reanimating the many dead soldiers beneath the depths of the sea as Lord Baltimore and Vanessa fight desperately to fend them off; the zombies become too great in numbers rising by the thousands.  Lord Baltimore leads Vanessa into the safety of a near-by submarine as he stays out and face’s the undead mob in mass while in the sub Vanessa recalls the rest of what Lord Baltimore told her of his past about how after his wife died he hunted down his tainted family and burned them all and how he put a nail in his leg for each one in order to never forget. Once it was day light Vanessa emerged from the sub to find Lord Baltimore still mercilessly alive and standing he explained to her how he held them off untill the sun came and finished the rest for him and that he say a ship off the horizon, after the two are taken to a port Vanessa makes the decision to return home having come to the conclusion that Lord Baltimore is cursed and that staying with him would end up with her dead, the issue ends with Vanessa’s Grandmother being tortured by a man from the inquisition asking for Lord Baltimore’s whereabouts .This comic series is awesome and loaded with all kinds zombie and vampire Goodness (8 out of 10)

The Secret History  Book 13

The issue begins in Valdemone Sicily where workers unearth the ark of the covenant, but german soldiers arrive to attack them and take it for Dyo.  Elsewhere in Sicily a glider plane lands carrying a group of american paratroopers who are welcomed by Itzar as he guides them to a village he is surprised to find his old friend the Rebel who tells Itzar about  past wars and how the ark came to be where it was, meanwhile the germans weather weapon has begun to manipulate the weather conditions threatening the d-day landings, but Itzar and the group of american soldiers makes their way to the site of the weather weapon and Itzar selflessly walks into the device shutting it down saving the landings, but mysteriously disappearing in the process and the issue ends with Reka and Erlins Bomber dropping an atomic bomb in japan over Nagasaki with Dyo and the ark on the ground. Comic Reivew March 12, 2011

Hi Thunderscorpion here went to go see the premier of Battle LA the other day. When I first saw the commercials for the movie I though district 9 was gonna have a sequel and that the prawns were back for revenge.  The movie was great it was kinda like black hawk down, but with aliens.  Also I heard about the tsunami and earthquake in japan, it looks like the beginning to Evangelion over there with the buildings under water in stuff  anyway here are the reviews enjoy.

Mouse Guards The Black Axe #1

The issue begins with the guard mouse Celanawe working on constructing a new Frostic outpost alone near the sea-shore while elsewhere an aged mouse named Em discovers that she and Celanawe are the last of their family’s line and she sets out to meet her kin when she arrives at the frostic outpost riding a top a crow she is warned by Celanawe to stay quiet and leave with him because they are being hunted, but suddenly the crow starts making noise and it is attacked by a pack of savage weasels, so the two mice hide themselves in the woods and make a narrow escape as Em use’s her ability to communicate with birds to call a duck to aid them and there are able to make it safely out to sea. The issue ends with Em giving Celanawe a note from the Bronwyn telling him to follow Em’s every order and then Em tells him that there quest is for the fabled Black Axe. ( 8 out of 10)

Baltimore The Plague Ships #4

The issue begins with Lord Baltimore and Vanessa sitting by the camp fire  talking when the subject of Lord Baltimore’s family is brought up and another layer of tragedy is added as we learn that when Lord Baltimore returned home from the war he found out from his wife Elowen that his parents and sister where dead. While staying with his wife he becomes ill and one night while he rested in bed he was alarmed to hear that a doctor was there to see him fitting the description of the vampire Haigus so Lord Baltimore raced to his wife only to find her already murdered by Haigus.  Later Lord Baltimore attends his wife’s funeral and stays until night when his undead vampire wife walks out of a mausoleum and trys to embrace him, but then a priest steps in and convinces Lord Baltimore to slay his undead wife.  The issue ends in the present back on the beach where Lord Baltimore and Vanessa continue to talk when the strange fungus from before starts to suddenly bloom in to strange flowers. Yes, Beware the fungus flowers : ) another great issue I give it ( 8 out of 10).

Rasl #5

The issue begins with Rasl at Annie’s house where he talks with her about the need for her to find some place safe to stay at and also his plan to go to a parallel world to get funds for them to going to hiding, but as he leaves the house and sits in his jeep he black’s out and recalls his past working with Maya and Miles. When he comes too, he later meets the Maya of this parallel world again while walking around and she offers to take him on a private tour of the museum and the issue ends with Rasl having a flash back where we learns how he came into possession of Nikola Tesla’s missing journals.  No recap at the beginning of the issue this time, but interesting story I give this issue (8 out of 10).

A Very Zombie Summer #1

Like the “A very Zombie Christmas” comics I’ve reviewed previously this issue consists of a small collection of short zombie stories.  The first of which is entitled “The Littlest Zombie Learns To Swim”  is about the littlest Zombie and how he manages to attack a small boat full of a group of survivors while walking under water on the floor of the lake by using a dead divers flippers.  The next story entitled “The Rott Stuff” is drawn in a manga style and is about a hair brained scientist and his two lovely assistants as their trapped on a platform on a beach surrounded by zombies created from a failed air freshener experiment. After that story there are a few zombie pin-up art pages and a short comic about zombies and the oil spill in the gulf of mexico. The issue ends with a preview of  “The Last Zombie #1” and it still looks great.  All in all this issue was ok, but no-where near as good as the “A Very Zombie Christmas” comics where I give it (7 out of 10).

Fubar vol 1

Since there are fifteen short stories  in this “World War II zombie comic” collection I counted the “Kilroy was here story part 1 and 2” as one story I’ll be rating them all and then filling you in on the best stuff.

  • The Day Of Days (6 out of 10)
  • Bearer Of Secrets (5 out of 10)
  • If God Be For Us (6 out of 10)
  • Kilroy Was Here Part 1 (7 out of 10)
  • The Valley Of Death (6 out of 10)
  • The Brief (5 out of 10)
  • Severed (1 out of 10)
  • Mother Russia (8 out of 10)
  • Stalemate (6 out of 10)
  • De Guer (5 out of 10)
  • Four Days Ahead (5 out of 10)
  • Golem’s Last Stand (4 out of 10)
  • Kilroy Was Here Part 2 (7 out of 10)
  • Heroes Of The Soviet Union (5 out of 10)
  • Bingo(5 out of 10)
  • And The Crowd Goes Wild (7 out of 10)

As you can see by my ratings I only liked a few of the comics shown, most of the comics were drawn well enough, but a lot lacked in story telling which I understand it is hard to write a good fulfilling story in such a short comic, but still some manged to be very entertaining, the comic I liked the best was “The Mother Russia” comic it was drawn very well and had a great atmosphere.  It’s about a female Russian soldier named Svetlana Orlova.  She was once an accomplished dancer who joined the Soviet army after her family was killed by German bombs.  One day as she was sniping out the “Walking Dead” below from her towering position, she spots a young child walking along amongst the zombie’s so she sprung into action saving the child before being cornered by the undead when their suddenly saved  by a german shepherd named Thor and the dogs master a german officer named Otto Von Steiner. The story ends with the two agreeing to help one another to escape so that they can get to her tower that has food supplies enough to last  them all for years. There is suppose to be a mother Russia comic coming out some time in 2011 I look forward to it another comic that’s worth mentioning is Kilroy Was Here Part 1 and 2 which is a story about Sgt Kilroy and his two soldier companions nicknamed Fatty and Four Eyes as they barricade a house and later spend the night fighting off hordes of zombies.  All in all I give Fubar Volume 1 a (7 out of 10) there should be enough good World War II zombie action in the comic to please most zombie fans and I for one would definitely pick-up Fubar vol 2 when it comes out this fall.

Comic Review February 14, 2011

Hi Thunderscorpion here I know I’ve been putting off  my best comics of 2010 post so I promise that my next post will cover it, till then here’s some reviews all also note that I’ve been planning for future posts and I may do something different.

RASL#4

The issue starts off with a one page recap of what happened in the previous issue, which was a nice touch.  The story starts off in the pacific in the year 1943 where US Navy sailors witness strange and disturbing events as they try to rescue a distressed ship that suddenly disappears and leaves behind a large trench in the sea.  Meanwhile Rasl emerges from a portal created by his machine and come face to face with the strange faced man and after a short fight the strange faced man reveals that his name is Sal and he offers a deal to Rasl being that he won’t kill any of Rasl’s loved one’s in parallel worlds for forty-eight hours in return for some classified journals that Sal believes Rasl has in his possession later Rasl is confronted by a creepy little girl who insists that he go back to the parallel world where his girlfriend Annie is.  The issue ends with Rasl following the girls instructions and returning to Annie.  Wait till you see the creepy little girl in this, if I was him I would have run she looks like something from a horror movie. I give this issue ( 8 out of 10 ).

The Stuff of Legend The Jungle #3

The issue continues where they last left off with the animals taking the group of toys to be judged by their King who turns out to be a gigantic cobra called the Serpent King, but he’s has a grudge against humans and he has the group separated and sends the human toys  the Jester, Harmony and an ill Anya to a place called the hunting ground.  He then orders the animals toys of the group be judged to see if they can earn a place in the animal tribe. Later the animals of the group are guided by their friend Monty and he explains the past of the animal tribe and  how there was a war between the animals and humans orchestrated by the boogeyman.  Meanwhile at the hunting ground Jester sets off alone to confront a pack of predators  hunting them to save his friends. Elsewhere in the dark the toys master and his companion sneaks through the boogeyman city in search for a way out and the issue ends with Percy the pig standing on trial before the Serpent King as max the bear breaks in and takes the blame to save Percy. I loved this issue especially the part where the Jester go’s midevil on the animals that was a great scene I give this issue ( 9 out of 10).

Baltimore The Plague Ships #3

The issue continues with Lord Baltimore’s ghastly encounter with his vampire nemeses Haigus. After which he comes to realization that he has somehow brought about the horrific plague in the process.  Meanwhile back in the present, the ship that Lord Baltimore and Vanessa are on moves into rough sea’s then there is  sightings of a gigantic flying jelly fish followed by the ship sinking, but Lord Baltimore save’s Vanessa before drowning and the two end up shipwrecked on a deserted island known as the Furiani Graveyard for its many shipwrecked submarines on its shores, but while searching the island the two discover an abandoned plague ship. Upon closer inspection they see that a strange fungus is growing out of a hole in the ships hull, so they follow it to its source and inside the ship they find a coffin with a corpse inside with a gut full of the fungus, but to Vanessa’s surprise she is grabbed by a zombie and they both fall under attacked by the ship’s undead crew. Luckily Baltimore makes short work of them and the issue ends with Vanessa and Lord Baltimore making a fire and spending the night out on the beach. I like this comic series and I think it’s really under rated.  I also hear that there’s a book that this comic is based-off of I’d like to read it someday if it’s better than the comic like they say then it should be great I give this issue ( 8 out of 10).

The Littlest Zombie #2

The story begins at a shadow government military base deep underground where a pint size little girl genius conducts experiments on captive human survivors and zombies with the help of her army of genetically engineered supersoldiers.  As she completes a report on a solution to the zombie epidemic and releases an imprisoned littlest zombie elsewhere at the secret  underground base a vengeful general Faukker is plotting to strike against her, but little does he know that she has prepared for such a situation setting up her super soldier with tazers her secret weapon against the generals toxic troopers, but things go aria as the base is assaulted by a force from another underground facility as well as survivors from the surface catching the super soldiers off guard and forcing the little genius girl to eject herself to the surface nearly escaping as bombs go off all over the facility and the issue ends with the little genius girl running away at surface level with zombies following close behind. ( 6 out of 10)

It Was The War Of The Trenches HC

This comic is not for the faint of heart featuring a collection of dark world war one story’s focusing on the hardships of the french soldier on the front line’s it reads more like a book then your standard comic with lots of narrations the story’s share anti-war theme’s and does so by showcasing the horrors and injustices of war through the comic’s disturbing and graphic imagery.  The art and story are done by french creator Jacques Tardi.  The art is very detailed and gritty capturing the mood of the time very well.  In the end the comic is less of a war story and more of  a story about humanity and serves as a dark warning of the evils of war. Comic Review January 25, 2011

Hi thunder scorpion here. The best comics of 2010 post I had planed on making is taking me longer then I expected, so in the mean-time I thought I’d post a new set of comic reviews.

GUERILLAS  VOL 1

I read the first four issue’s of this comic back when it was with Image comics and I was disappointed when I heard that new issue’s would not be made, but instead that there would be a TPB and that the book would come out at a different company this time called Onipress. The comic itself starts with an introduction by Jackson Publick the creator of the venture brothers animated tv show, where he explains why the comics creator Brahm Revel was not able to work on the comic because he was working on the show, but it would appear that Brahm now has some time on his hands and will be continuing his comic projects. The Guerillas comics story starts off with the main character private John Clayton on his first patrol in Vietnam, but as he witness the horrors of war he begins reminiscing his past and starts to regret his reason of going to war for the purpose of pleasing his father, but the fighting becomes intense as the vietcong  ambushes his platoon and private John is left as the lone survivor of the attack with the vietcong advancing towards him things look bleak when suddenly a platoon of chimpanzees armed with m16’s and dressed in US military fatigues attacks the vietcong and save’s him.  At first John is terrified of the creatures in particular the group’s ape leader named Goliath, but luckily John find’s a place for himself in this odd platoon as cigaret lighter for these apparently smoking ape’s meanwhile a Dr Heisler readys his lab experiment baboon named Adolf and gathers a team of marines to go deep into Vietnam with him in search of his twin brother and his Guerilla secret weapons. I loved this comic when I read it a few years ago and I still love it now the action was intense the story was fantastic and the art was amazing all that plus its ape’s with machine gun’s what more could you ask for I give it. (10 out of 10)

BALTIMORE THE PLAGUE SHIPS #2

This issue continues with Lord Baltimore and Vanessa after having escaped from jail finding a ship’s crew willing to take them to Livorno while aboard Vanessa ask’s lord Baltimore why he hunts the one vampire in particular and the horrorable scene’s of his past are shown as we learn that Lord Baltimore was once a soldier and that while in the army he once went on a night attack where his whole company was killed and he was shot in the leg and left for dead amidst the body’s of his fallen comrades when suddenly a flock of gigantic vampire bats surrounds him and starts feasting on dead body’s when one bat closes in on him and Lord Baltimore cut’s its face with a bayonet getting one of its eyes in the process, but the vampire bat grabs him and breathes something into his leg before flying off with the other bats and later Lord Baltimore  awakes in a hospital to find one of his legs amputated and the issue ends with him being disturbed at night in bed when he see’s the sacred faced vampire in his room.  Great comic the battle scene with Lord Baltimore and the vampire bat was master full I give this ( 8 out of 10).

RASL#3

This issue begins with Rasl emerging from a swirling ball of light caused by the amazing machine he strapped on previously. Once he recovered from his painful trip he discovers that he has arrived in the parallel world where he was first attacked by his girlfriend Annie’s killer the strange faced man. While checking out the parallel world’s town he reminisces about the past and we learn that two years ago Rasl along with his friend and partner named Miles and his wife Maya who he was secretly cheating with where working on a project to create an incredible machine based on concepts pioneered by Nikola Tesla. Later in the present Rasl visits the lab where he once worked at in the parallel world and meets this worlds Maya. After this chance encounter he arrives at his girlfriends house and spy’s on the Annie that lives in this parallel world when suddenly from a distance he see’s the strange faced man kick down her door gun drawn with the intent to kill Annie again and the issue ends with the strange face man taking a  strange machine like the one Rasl has from the trunk of his car and using it to get transported to another parallel world as Rasl tells Annie to get somewhere safe and straps on his machine and goes after him. ( 8 out of 10)

THE LITTLEST ZOMBIE #1

The issue start’s off with the littlest zombie scrounging around in search for food when he discovers a dead human body and trys to feast on it, when he has his find stolen away from him by a huge fat zombie and a truck with survivors in it. Suddenly it crashes into the side of a building. As the survivors run inside they take a water purifier with them that they intended to bring back to their camp for the other survivors, but as they hold out inside the building the big fat zombie walks into the doorway and they shot out its knee caps making the fat zombie a fleshy corps barricade while inside we learn that one of the survivors is responsable for the groups problems by having messed up their mission by staying longer in order to get himself drugs and we learn that another survivor in the group is actually a marauder spy and as they discuss whether or not to sell out their friends back at the camp to the marauders a crowd of zombies outside begin to tunnel thru the fat zat zombie barricade and a group of survivors shows up in a vehicle  from the camp after  having heard their talk of  betrayal over a radio that the group thought wasnt working so the spy sets off a grenade and most of the group sacrifices themselfves by throwing themselfves over the water purifier and the grenade saving the survivor camp for certain death  and leaving only drug user guy left alive that is until the littlest zombie eats him and the issue ends with the Littlest zombie finally enjoying a proper zombie feast ( 7 out of 10)

THE SECRET HISTORY#12

This issue takes place in the year 1942 and starts off with Curtis in an air plane somewhere in the pacific when the air crafts crew spots a nazi submarine unloading black stones to the japanese soldiers so they bomb them and destroy many of the stones.  Meanwhile in a German factory two resistance spy’s sneek around and take photos only to discover that a horrific looking man in a nazi uniform is performing some kinda dark ritual.  Later the Archons, Rekia and Erlin devise a plan and send aircraft on a mission to destroy a dam in order to flood the factory. Then the story goes to Los Alamos where plans for creating the worlds first atomic bomb is in development and the issue ends with Philby recovering a new rune giving him the power to swing the balance of the war in favor of either the Axis or Allys ( 8 out of 10).

Comic Review December 20,2010

Hi Thunderscorpion here I thought I should post a new review before Christmas so here we are, a while back I saw the last episode from the first season of the Walking Dead TV show.  It was great, but I kinda expected the Shawn guy to die at the end, well I guess their saving that for season two. Anyway here are the reviews.

A very zombie christmas #2

A very zombie christmas #2

A Very Zombie Christmas #2

Like the first comic this issue collects a number of short comic stories.  The first comic told entitled Afrika Korpse is about a group of British soldiers driving around in a jeep patrolling in the desert, but things take a turn for the worst for them when they stumble upon a small oasis with dead Germans nearby as well as a shot up vehicle, but they soon discover that their oasis is more of a curse than a blessing when German zombies begin to rise out of the water and advance on them.  The British soldiers fire at them in vain, but were able to escape  that is until their jeep breaks down and they spot the Zombie’s coming towards them at full speed riding on top a half-track with guns blazing, a fire fight erupts and when the dust settles and the battle was over there was but one survivor and the story ends with the lone surviving soldier being unsuccessfully persuaded by his superior officer to not report what really happened and then after walking outside for a cigarette and being talked to by a US officer who wishes to discuss his experience and his future.  Cool story I love World War II zombie comics and the art was just fantastic.  The second story is the Littlest Zombie Comic Story entitled a Dark Christmas Story and a dark story it is.   It’s about this family and the father gives his son a gun for christmas and later the two go out and start hunting zombies so they see the  littlest zombie and the father tells his son to get up closer and shoot it,  but the kid falls down a hole into a zombie dug tunnel and the kids dad tried to pull him up before the zombies that are walking towards them or the Littlest zombie that by now is in the tunnel could reach them, but it all ends tragically as the kids gun trigger gets snagged on a root and they both get shot and die needless to say it was a sad story, but not bad I think I’ll give the Littlest Zombie another try and pick up an issue. Finally, the last story is basically the A Christmas Carole Story, but with zombies it wasn’t that great.  All in all this A Very Zombie Christmas  comic was great and I can’t wait till they do another one next year I give it an (8 out of 10).

Mouse Guard Legends of the Guard#4

Mouse Guard Legends of the Guard#4

Mouse Guard Legends of the Guard#4

The story telling continues again with another round of mouse tales and the first story told entitled The Lion and the Mouse is about a mouse go figure, that helps a lion by pulling out a thorn stuck  in the lions paw.  Later when the mouse is confronted by two hyenas the lion repays his debt to the mouse by saving him.  It’s not a very original story, but its was ok.  The next story called Bowen’s Tale is about the mouse Sadie’s close encounter with a herd of deer where she nearly get’s trampled.  The story had no dialogue and it was short, but it had good enough art.  The last story in this issue told entitled Crown of Silver, Crown of Gold is about a cruel mouse king named Avidar who grew jealous of his army’s famed captain a mouse named Garrow because he and a mouse named Moira were lovers and the cruel king sought after Moria for himself so he devised a plan to kill Garrow by sending him to deliver a message of peace to an enemy mouse kingdom, but when he arrived with the message and it was read he was attacked for the message really reads slay this mouse and the war between us is over, but something the king did not plan for happens.  When Garrow survives and comes back with the enemy mouse kings crown and as king Avidar gloats over his unexpected victory, he is struck down by the mouse Moria ending his reign of terror. This last story had some great art and a great story.  In the end when the last story was told the bar owner chose the Bowen’s Tale story as the winning story I personally think the last story was the best either that or The Mouse named Fox story from #3.  (8 out of 10)

RASL#1

RASL#1

RASL#1

I decided to try this comic out because I heard a lot of good things about it from the books fans.  I also had heard about the books creator Jeff Smith other more popular comic series called Bone Witch I also hope to read some day.  Anyway on to the story.  The issue starts off with the comics main character whose name was not mentioned, walking all beat up looking and bleeding thru the desert.  Later he sneaks into some ones house and steals a Picasso painting, but he is discovered and has to escape as he’s pursued by two cops.  He gets away using a strange jet pack looking device that takes him to another time.  The process of using the machine appears to take a terrible toll on its user as he suffers a great deal of pain after its use. Meanwhile, he settles down at a bar and helps himself to some drinks. Suddenly he’s attacked by a strange trench coat wearing man with a camel like face, but the art thief manages to subdue the strange being and find a safe place to rest, then the issue ends shortly later after he meditates and then again gets transported to a desert ending up in a similar situation, as he was when the issue began.  This issue was interesting all though there wasn’t much revealed about the story’s plot it was a good read, but hope we learn more about whats going on in issue two. (8 out of 10)

The Walking Dead vol 13

The Walking Dead vol 13

The Walking Dead vol 13

In this volume Rick and the others mostly spend their time doing their assigned jobs and they find that they are more suited to achieving their tasks than their recently merged counterparts.  Like when Abraham saves this girl named Holly from some zombie’s while the man in charge of the group Tobin abandons her and instead ordered his men into formation and things get risky for the group when Rick and Glen enact their plan  and steel some gun’s and secretly hand them out to some of their group, but later when Rick discovers that a man named Pete is abusing his wife and son he attack him in a blind rage and jeopardises his place in the community when he pulls a stolen gun on Douglas the towns leader.  Luckily later it appears that after much scrutiny he is all but forgiven as Douglas returns his gun and allows him to settle back into the community once again and just in time as a vengeful Pete appears after having been forced to live in another house away from his family he comes at Rick with a knife and unintentionally kills Douglas’s wife Regina after which Rick kills him as ordered by Douglas and the volume ends with a new group of survivors trying to get in at the front gate by force and so Rick puts his life on the line out in the open with a sniper dot on his chest and luckily they are able to hold their ground and keep them out and secure their homes for yet another day.  As I read this I could not help but think that its gonna take a long time for the TV show to catch up to this volume. (8 out of 10)

Berserk vol 9

Berserk vol 9

Berserk vol 9

This volume starts off with Gut alone in a forest contemplating the choices that he has made and remembering the past when he  is suddenly visited by the Knight of Skeleton who speaks to him of his past and then leaves as mysteriously as he appeared.  Meanwhile, a disturbed and shocked Griffith moves ahead with his plans to quickly when he sleeps with the young princess and his plans are ruined when a court lady witnesses Griffith with the princess and the king hears of it.  After he imprisons Griffith he tortured and kept in him in a dungeon and the band of the hawk is led into an open field and ambushed killing most of the band of the hawk’s soldiers except for a number of survivors led to safety by Commander Casca.  Elsewhere Guts takes part in a fighting tournament where he defeats a powerful foreign warrior named Silat.  Only afterwards does he learn of what happened  to the band of the Hawk, but elsewhere a tired Casca leads the surviving members of the band of the Hawks, when they are suddenly attacked by the kings men and surprisingly Gut appears and an epic fight erupts between Guts and the enemy’s leader, the strange warrior from before Silat. Gut and the band of the Hawks manage to counter their attackers and forced them to retreat.  Most rejoiced over Guts return and the volume ends with Guts and Casca fighting and then finally admitting their feelings towards one another. Guts and Casca make a good couple I’ll be sad later on when all the bad stuff happens to them. (9 out of 10)

This issue tells the back story’s of two of the movies characters Noland the Crazed Scavenger and Royce the movie’s lead character in Noland’s case the issue tells the story of what happened to Noland before he meets the characters from the movie.  Then a sole survivor of a special forces team a man named Drake gets transported to the Predators hunting planet and meets up with Noland only to end up leaving against his advise  to get revenge by setting a dangerous trap for the Predators, which ultimately will cost him his life.  As for the character Royce’s back story he was working as a paid mercenary for a cruel dictator with the mission given to assassinate a rebel leader and to destroy a village which he does mercilessly.  The art in this comic is acceptable, some pages look rushed and undetailed while other pages look very good all in all the whole thing was good, but not great I give it (7 out of 10).

Predators the official comic adaptation

All start off by mentioning that this issue is thicker than your normal issues, but they charge you more for it $6.99 so its hard to get excited about its extra thickness; anyway the story starts off with the character Isabelle  and her companion Archuletta attacking a group of soldiers in an attempt to save some women who are being held captive.  The attack ends with Isabelle hiding in the jungle helpless to save her friend as he is executed  by the soldiers.  Soon after she is transported to the Predators planet and the comic then covers what happened in the movie with little differences accept that the story is told thru the thoughts of Isabelle.  All in all it was good the art wasnt great, but it wasnt bad ether I give it (7 out of 10).

Predators sequel

This issue’s story takes place two months after the part where the movie ended at where Royce and Isabelle are trying to survive and find another predator ship to use to escape back to earth, but things get hectic when a four armed predator challenged them and leaves a suit of predator armor specially designed to work for a human.  Together they work to set up a trap and combat the predator in a duel for survival.  The art wasnt really to my liking and I thought the four armed predator thing looked kinda stupid and ultimately this issue added nothing to the story. (5 out of 10)

I only recommend these comics to you if you have to collect all the predator comics.  You can, if only for the sake of your collection.  Otherwise you won’t be missing out on much If you pass on this I give all the comics together.       (7 out of 10)
