Deltora Quest Anime

Deltora Quest Anime

Hi Thunderscorpion here, I saw the second Berserk movie Battle for Doldrey I was disappointed it was like watching Berserk in on fast forward and there were times when the CG was stiff and they cut too much of the story I really think the old anime is better I hate when they use flash backs without any contexts for people who didn’t watch the older anime or read the Manga I can image them being very confused. I’ll watch the next Berserk movie Descent, but if things don’t slow down and get better than I may drop the movies all together. I’ve been watching the Deltora Quest anime lately, only the English Sub version I hate the dub of this anime with a passion. I actually like the anime better than the manga, the anime is much better righted then the manga, but the Book is better than both. I really enjoy these reviews and I hope you will too.

Rasl #14
The issue starts with Rasl and agent crow in a heated discussion about the Tesla journals when Sal shoots at Rasl and miss. Adams orders her men to arrest Sal, but Sal suddenly kills her and her men instead as Rasl use’s his machine to escape to a parallel world. Meanwhile, Rasl dust himself off and call’s Uma asking her to meet him at Lucky’s Bar when they both arrive and Rasl orders a drink, but he suddenly interrupted when Sal walks in gun’s blazing as everyone duck’s for cover and Rasl quickly gets the drop on Sal tying him up and leaving him in the Bar’s freezer. The issue end’s with Rasl and Uma driving out into the desert as they park in a secluded location and share a passionate kiss and a certain little creepy girl appears looking in through their window. Why didn’t Rasl just kill Sal when he had the chance. Also that creepy girl is so cool always showing up at random. ( 8 out of 10 )

Age of Reptiles: The Hunt #1
The issue begins with a mother and child dino lounging underneath a seemingly unstable rock formation when a trio of horned carnivores attacks them and the mother dino is killed, but the young one is able to escape. Several session’s later the young dinosaur has grown and is still being hunted by the same pack of horned carnivores when the chase leads the pursued dino, which I’ll be calling the Red carnivore from now on for account of its looks, hides inside the corp.’s of a large dead dinosaur, and I though they smelt bad on the outside…. meanwhile, he takes off as the horned dinos start eating his hiding place and after running though the desert and eating a few small blue dinos with a taste for tongue, must be French…. the red carnivore takes in some well needed rest before wakening up surrounded by the horned dinos, when suddenly the ground beneath them caves in and they fall into an underground cavern. the issue ends with the Red carnivore discovering a light in the tunnel as the horned dinos crowd him from behind causing them all to fall out off a ledge and into a canyon river below. so far the first Age of Reptiles comic is still the best, but this was great too. Baltimore: The Curse Bells #5
The story continues with the bells having been rung and the towns people having been turned into mindless zombies as Lord Baltimore is curiously unaffected by the curse and is able to strike down the Barbarian’s feathered servant as he then fights his way through the halls of Vampire Nuns before it is revealed that the Barbarian man is the incarnation of Hitler or something like that, as he exclaims his aspirations for conquest and it finally becomes clear to the tainted Nuns that his promise to cure them was a lie so they seek their redemption in feasting on his flesh. Elsewhere Haigus and Blavatsky from a kind of alliance before Baltimore arrives and Haigus turn’s into A Bat and flees. Then Baltimore frees MR. Hodge from his cell as he cleverly avoided the effects of the curse by plugging his ears, they bear witness to the vampire Nuns as they let them self’s burn in the sun light reduced to ash and the issue ends with Lord Baltimore and MR. Hodge parting ways as the Inquisitor later revisits the convent and seeks MR. Hodge for Questioning. ( 8 out of 10 ).

This comic surprised me I actually found myself caring about what happens to the characters I hope that they continue this story it surpassed my expectations ( 7 out of 10 ). Hi Thunderscorpion here happy new year I saw the Hobbit movie the other day it was great and I’ve got a side project coming up Jan,19 I made some art for an art exhibit, crossing my fingers if my art sell’s well then all be buying lot’s more comics I might post a few pic’s of my art if thing’s work out. also I’m waiting on a few orders I placed on christmas that still haven’t gone though when they arrive I plan on making a Christmas Haul Post, to show case the Comic’s I got this holiday season. I’ve watched an Anime called Bare Foot Gen sence my last post it’s the most horrific anime I’ve ever seen like a terrible nightmare it made my stomach turn it’s in my opinion more tragic than even Grave of the Fireflies a similar anime in theme, but the message that the story conveys is plain and clear, War is Hell I just wish that all those War mongerer’s out there could see this movie and under stand what it really means to nuke another country and it’s people, and not take it so lightly and to show a little humanity. Well, enough of my sermon onto the reviews.

The Stuff of Legend: The Toy Collector #1

The issue begins with Monty inscribing the history of the toys arrival and Max the bear’s rise to power on the walls of a cave as Anya the tiger appears letting her distaste for Max’s regime be known. whilst elsewhere, two of the Boogeyman’s reluctant minions are given their order’s as part of the Boogeyman’s dastardly plans. Meanwhile, the toys master and his companion the Boogeyman in disguise are joined by Fillmore the former mayor of the town of hopscotch. Elsewhere the group of  toys encounter one of the Boogeyman’s minion’s the Toy Collector at work gathering the fallen toys from the battle at the ruined zoo. Back in the jungle Max the bear is unhappy with his rule as the other animal tell stories and discusses their past king the Lion and his tragic demise. The issue ends with Max the bear, Monty and the dog heading out to find the boy as a usurping tiger follows behind them. ( 8 out of 10 ) always wonderful.

Age of Reptiles #4

The issue begins with the deinonychus pack staking a large ultrasaurs while in a desert wasteland littered with dino bones when the ultrasaurus suddenly collapses out of exhaustion and the deinonychus encounters an odd gang of mixed dino’s as seen on the cover of the issue and a fight is triggered between two of the deinonychus ending with quetzal as the new pack leader later the Deinonychus pack returns to their nest nestled a top a cliff and the action reaches its climax as the entire Tyrannosaur pack strikes on the nest and an epic battle takes place between the two carnivore packs ending with the cliff top nest collapsing kill all, but the Tyrannosaur Long Jaw, and the issue ends with Long Jaw returning to its nest to find it’s only surviving egg being eaten by a prehistoric primate looking more like a dear in the head lights. ( 9 out of 10 ) I liked this Age of Reptiles series best and I am looking forward to reading Age of Reptiles: The hunt next.  Also I’d like to see the mixed gang of Dinosaurs on the cover of this issue get their own spin-off. P.S the look on that critters face was priceless.

Baltimore: The Curse Bells #4

The issue begins with the inquisitor finishing up his torture of the young couple that was spying on him when he is surprised to find that the young woman has survived his torturing and so he brings her limp battered body back into town meanwhile Baltimore escapes from his cell leaving MR Hodge behind as he seem more concerned with his vengeance then the saving of the towns people from the curse bells. Elsewhere the inquisitor returns the tormented girl to her family as they receive her and submit with hatred for the twisted supposed servant of God. Back at the convent Lord Baltimore helps a cursed Nun to repent her sin and end her wicked existence as MR Hodge prepares for the worst in plugging his ears so that he might not hear the dreaded sound of the curse bells. The issue ends with lord Baltimore fighting his way to the bells before cutting their line just as Blavatsky starts to play leaving us with an unsettling cliffhanger as to whether or not Lord Baltimore has saved the day in time. ( 8 out of 10 )

Battle For The Planet of The Living Dead #1

The issue begins with a pretentious news reporter commenting on some reports of zombie activity with a less than believing audited as the story’s main character an overly optimistic man named Adams cheerfully make his way to work but suddenly a ship crash-lands and mobs of zombies come pouring out as Adam and his co-worker runs  for their lives and the security team arrives just in time to save them, but the security team’s fire line is quickly over run and Adam pulls a woman soldier out of the grasp of a zombie as they nearly escape atop a gigantic crane before burning the zombie horde with molten hot metal. The issue ends with more ships crash landing no doubt full of zombies leaving the door open for a possible continuation of the story. ( 7 out of 10 )

Fubar Vol 2

When I first reviewed Fubar Volume 1  I sort of just rated each short on a scale of one to ten only expanding further on my favorite parts which at the time I thought was understandable considering how may comic short there are in each volume but looking back now I think it was a copout so now with volume two I’m going to attempt to review each and every comic short this volume has to offer starting with.

Steady As She Goes

The first short comic collected in this volume is about the Enola Gay Bomber crew mission it made me think and had a good twist ( 7 out of 10 ).

Semper Fi

Had an interesting set up about a marine looking for supplies for his wounded friend, but the ending could have been better ( 7 out of 10 ).

The Jisei of Tsuyoshi Mukai

A story about a Japanese officer meting his end, the art was to cartoony for my taste and the ending was a little weak ( 5 out of 10 ).

Second Wind

Shows us what happens when a Kamikaze pilot is zombified ( 7 out of 10 )

Fat Boy And The Little Man

Features the marines using a couple of armored zombies to take out a Japanese held hill. ( 7 out of 10 )

No Guts, No Glory

The story of a Gashia’s murderous rampage at a Japanese brothel ( 5 out of 10 )

Banzai Washout

The story of a Japanese Major and his creative method of ritual suicide ( 7 out of 10 )

Run Silent, Run Dead

A Story about American Submariners that unwittingly take aboard a zombie ( 7 out of 10 )

Sorgie’s Choice

Starts out with a sick infected soldier coming aboard a ship before it sinks, when a surviving soldier is given the choice between killer sharks or a raft with zombies. I personally would have chosen the later ( 7 out of 10 )

Five By Five

The story of five fighter pilots that return to the U.S.S Enterprise only to find it infested with zombies as they crash there foul depleted plans to take out some zombies, this was sort of poetic ( 7 out of 10 )

Unit 731

This story tell of the horrific experiments tested by the zealots Japanese scientist and their consequential failure. ( 5 out of 10 )

The Last The Dead And The Damned

Feature a Japanese and American soldiers separately fighting to the death, I describe this comic as pointless not in a tragically pointless kind of way but in a child could have done a more compelling story way ( 4 out of 10 )

Catch of the day

Is About a Father and son from A poor Filipino Village and the problems that they face because of the war and the zombie Apocalypse. ( 6 out of 10 )

Last Dance with Mary-Jane

A zombie love story about a marine on a rescue mission to save his dream girl that he meet at a U.S.O dance ( 7 out of 10 )

SI Cheng

A cartoony tail about A platoon of soldiers and the overly committed officer that leads them into a village infested with zombies ( 5 out of 10 )

Radio Base Z

This story starts with the discovery of an unidentified air craft flying over Alaska when American fighter Planes shoot them down and a soldier is dropped in to check out the wreckage we later learn that the soldier sent in is A native American after he comes face to face with a zombified polar bear. this comic was my favorite of the volume the set up was epic and the art fantastic the comic has a to be continued ending I would like to see this made into a standalone comic ( 9 out of 10 )

Hachimaki

The tail of A Treo of soldiers and their struggle to blow up a Japanese bunker ( 6 out of 10 )

Fukushima

Features a vengeful Spirit/Zombie on A rampage to take  vengeance on the people responsible for the atomic bomb attacks on Hiroshima And Nagasaki ( 4 out of 10 )

Hell in The Pacific

Is about two mutilated zombies that fight to death for years. the art is very ugly not to my liking and the story was uninspired ( 3 out of 10 ).

Wild Blue

Is about a cool black pilot that takes off with his plane on a carrier deck full of zombies ( 7 out of 10 ).

Stay of Execution

Is about a curl Japanese Executioner and how he gets his come upend. ( 6 out of 10 ).

Life Preservers

The story of a soldier stranded in a boat out on the open sea with a top-secret zombie in a box, this was gross and anti climatic. ( 4 out of 10 ).

The Orphans

A group of marines on a mission to recover the dead.( 5 out of 10 ).

Kokoda,1942

The tail of a soldiers and a native that struggle to survive in a jungle full of zombies, there’s no dialog in this short but it was good ( 7 out of 10 ).

Propaganda

Tells of the fear that the zombies create for the Japanese people. ( 5 out of 10 ).

Cold Country

Is about a soldier returning home that tries to adjust to life after facing the horrors of zombie combat. ( 4 out of 10).

Operation Z

The last comic short feature the Japanese using zombies pilots for a surprise attack on pearl harbor.( 7 out of 10 ).

I’d like to acknowledge the fact that many of the comic shorts reviewed above were created by amateur writers and artists and I wish to encourage them to continue working towards making great comics everybody has to start somewhere and I wish them the best of luck, but one thing I’d like to suggest for people interested in writing zombie comics is this just because it’s a zombie comic doesn’t mean the story can’t have a happy ending just a word for thought. the comic’s I liked best in this where Run Silent, Run Dead/Banzai Washout and Radio Base Z .  I give the Volume as a whole ( 7 out of 10 ) fun Fact F.U.B.A.R is an acronym from world war two that stands for Fu#%ed up Beyond all Recognition.

Neon Genesis Evangelion: the Shinji Ikari Raising Project Vol 9
In this volume Misato orders her class into the pool on account of the heat, but tensions increases as Asuka rally’s the girls agents the boy’s and Misato exacerbates the situation by starting a water dodge ball compaction to decide who gets to stay in the pool. later DR. Akagi sends Asuka,Rei and Shinji into a virtual training envir0ment to whip out some program bug’s as well as one big slimmy bug that melts there suits on contact. meanwhile Gendo win’s an all expense paid family trip to Atami and as everyone in joy’s their vacation they run into Misato,Ibuki,Kashi and Nurse Akagi at the beach and after the usual antics Shinji and some of the girls led by Misato head out to the Sento Bath House to relaxes. This series has way to many spontaneous ecchi moments I mean when it serves the story it’s ok but what are the souls of Shinji’s and Gendo’s shoe’s made of really Butter I think the whole accidentally fell excuse is BS Asuka needs to beat Shinji harder because I think he’s just playing stupid. Comic Review August 29, 2011

Hi Thunderscorpion here, still working on my secret project its going to take a while before I will have anything to show for it and I may end up having to scraping the whole thing, but im working things out, unfortunately Im running out of comics to review so it’s probably gonna be a while before I can do more review, so for now this will have to be it.

Mouse Guard The Black Axe #2

In this issue Em and Celanawe’s quest for the Black Axe leads  them to the Port Sumac where they find a routie young sea fairing mouse named Conrad willing to take them on the treacherous voyage across the northern sea on his ship. So he may prove himself worthy of being the captain of the council of captains.  While on their journey out to sea Em explains to Celanawe that the two of them are the last living descendants of the legendary mouse Farrer who forged the black axe and that Em’s older brother Benn whom she suspect’s is dead was the last mouse to have the fabled Black Axe in his possession and the issue ends suspensefully as their ship capsizes admist a terrible storm and Em and Celanawe falls overboard and sinks under rough seas. ( 8 out of 10)

Planet of The Living Dead #1

The story of Planet of The Living Dead follows the crew of the USCSS Typhon as they travel thru space carrying a creepish Mr Jek and his cargo aboard to a planet called Cicero, but when they arrive and land on the planet’s surface they find it deserted and as they investigate more some of the crew get’s to fixing the power, while Mr.Jek goes off to find the man he was looking for Rocca.  Finding him zombified he shoots him before taking something from him, meanwhile, the others begin to encounter the undead and the crew comes outside to find an army of zombies crawling all over their landingship as the USCSS Typhon suddenly falls from the sky on fire.  Mr Jek comes up with a plan to reach a nearby ore carrier to use to escape the planet and call for help, but after the crew provides cover fire for him and he gets inside the carrier he takes off and leaves them all behind stranded on a planet infested with the undead. Who didn’t see that coming?   I mean they didn’t trust the guy from the beginning why would they let him be the one that runs for the ship their only known route of escape!  That aside interesting story the art wasn’t bad ether my main complaint is that it was short but I will most likely be picking up the continuation of the story “Return to The Planet of The Dead” in the future.  ( 7 out of 10 )

Rasl #10

The issue begins with Rasl searching for a place to park his jeep finale settling on an airport parking lot before transporting himself to Annie’s parallel universe. Meanwhile, Rasl goes to find Annie at a motel only to discover that she is leaving him for some cholo bodyguard named Luis. After explaining her reason for leaving Rasl reveals to her the truth that he is a different version of the man she knows from her universe and that he loved a different version of her in his parallel world, but before Annie could take off with Luis, Rasl gave her some money and in return she gave him a note telling him to meet her at a bar called Lucky’s at 10:00 p.m., but to Rasl’s surprise when he shows up he meets this worlds Maya instead and after chatting with her for a while there is a moment where Rasl wigs out and his vision gets trippy, and the issue ends with two moving to step out of the bar together. I think Maya and Rasl look good together I hope they become a couple. ( 8 out of 10 )

28 Days Later #21

The issue begins with a flash back of Selena’s past when she worked at a pharmacy and had to take the verbal abuse of an enraged customer, meanwhile, in London Clint and Selena get processed and assigned a room, but while being evaluated, too Selena’s surprized Clint claims to be her husband to make things easier, but Selena plays along with the lie and later the two work together to steal a soldier’s cell phone and Clint calls his boss Eliott and arranges for them to be picked up in a week after Clint finishes writting his story. Later at night Selena reveals that she plans on leaving on her own and the issue ends with Clint waking up in the morning to find Selena gone having left behind only a note and her machete. Neon Genesis Evangelion Campus Apocalypse Vol 2

The Volume’s story begin’s at the schools christian nativity festival where some of the students prepare for a play, humorously Asuka has been given the part as the virgin mary and Ayanami is playing the role of a horse which she wearily enjoy’s. Later Shinji encounters the little girl that he meet in the previous volume and learns that her name is Cecilia Di Nuovo and that she has a twin brother named Makoto,  meanwhile, Kaworu spends the night at Shinji’s place and reveals the disturbing truth that Rei and himself are parentless and where created thru artificial means by the organization for the sole purpose of stopping the angles. Afterwards Kensuke is approached on the street by a man claiming to work for a game company who gives him a game to download on to the school’s computers for a beta test, but when the mysterious game is played by the students they start to passout and go into a lethargic state. The volume end’s with the revelation that Angels have had a hand in the making of this troubling game. I think this series needs more action.  My favorite part of this volume was when Ayanami had the horse head on priceless: ). ( 6 out of 10 )

The issue continues where the story left off with the orc rioters ravaging the Mountain City as Boss Beard Sersa orders his Shakatuu to put down the mob, meanwhile inside the innards of the gigantic beast One-Eye fights and subdues a Poxagronka crazed Pointy Face by force feeding him the mind control Birdling and then uses his ability to find the weak points of things to determine that the way out of the beast is to head up, but suddenly they are discovered by a group of mad cannibal orcs elsewhere Bowie and Zazu turns a couple of Shakatuu guards into the orc equivalent of wanton soup  and then sabotages the orc’s system of control  over the monolithic sized beast.  Back inside the beast One-eye and his two orc companions run for there lives as they are chased by the cannibal orcs, but they lose their pursuers and the three orcs almost make it out to safety when One-Eye slips and nearly falls to his death as his skittish orc friend starts to pulls him up and Pointy Face breaks free of the mind control bridling’s spell and kills One-Eye’s friend before setting his sights on One-Eye himself, but before he could complete his Poxagronka and kill One-Eye a large worm monster swallows him up and One-Eye is able to escape by popping thru one of the beasts eyes and the issue ends with One-Eye coming face to face with Beard Sersa as he has a sudden flash back recalling having  fought in a war with him and calling for a Poxagronka of his own.  I can not say enough good thing about this series it is a must read there is nothing else like it. Berserk vol 12

The volume begins with the Band of the Hawk in a state of despair after having successfully rescued Griffith, they start to come to the realisation that there once great leader has become a shell of the man he once was having been crippled and mutilated he will never be able to achieve his dreams of ruling a kingdom and he will have to be cared for because of his terrible condition, so Griffith tragically takes off and then try’s to kill himself on a sharp pease of wood but he finds the Behelit, and like the demon Zodd had said, it had returned to him and as the Band of the Hawk approached an eclipse occurs and Griffith and the Band of the Hawk are transported to a demon dimension where the God Hand (a group of demon lords) appears and attempts to persuade Griffith  to sacrifice his friends in order to become an all-powerful demon Lord like them by showing him a vision of his past and convincing him that it was the only way for him to live his dream. Shockingly Griffith agrees and the members of the Band of the Hawk are branded with the mark of sacrifice and many are feasted on by demons as Griffith begins his transformation into a monster. The volume ends with Ricket arriving on the scene to find a huge swirling tornado stretching out to the sky as well as Nosferotu Zodd facing down the Skull Knight. We’ve reached the beginning of the eclipse the next volume is gonna be all new to me well get to see what happens after the point where the anime left off, can’t wait this is an  amazing manga. ( 9 out of 10)

28 Days Later #20

The issue begins with Captain Stiles holding Selena at gun point as they walk towards the city of Manchester. Unbeknownst to them Clint has survived and made it to shore, but he passes out and awakens to find himself in custody of some American soldiers that think he killed there comrades, later after Clint tells them what happened there still doubtful of his story, but they take him to Manchester anyway to see if he can prove he’s telling true, meanwhile, the Captain brings Selena to the Worsley house mansion from the “first 28 days later movie”and forsces her to show him where Major West died, but Selena tricks Captain Stiles in to causing his own demise by throwing the Major’s dog tags out in to a minefield, so that when he went to go get them he came to an explosive end.   The issue ends with Selena and Clint reuniting in Manchester after the American Soldier hear the landmine go off and they see that Clint story checks out with the nightmare of Captain Stiles over their next stop is London. This was a satisfying conclusion, And I liked the movie reference I give this issue. ( 7 out of 10)

Rasl #9

The story continues with Rasl and his two strange newly acquainted companions wondering the desert as the man from before, the one claiming to be a president talks to him about his experience seeing a UFO, later the man brings up Nikola Tesla and sets off Rasl.  Rasl then leaves saying he’s going back to the parallel world where Annie is with the money he got from Pauly back at the casino and the issue end’s with Rasl going back to his jeep only to find a strangely dressed being to short to be Sal searching thru the back of it, Rasl chases after it but it escapes using a machine like the one Rasl has.  It would appear as if a new player has joined the game. I think it’s Nikola Tesla on the cover of this issue with a pigeon if so then I get the joke : ). ( 8 out of 10)

The Last Zombie #5

The issue begins with Doctor Ian Scott injecting himself with a vaccine to delay the inevitable affects of the zombie virus, meanwhile, all hell breaks lose in town as the raiding army besieges them and the soldiers fight back later aided by an armed mob of lepers their able to withstand the attack, but not before a suspenseful shoot out between the raider leader and Doctor Bopuri, the battle ended at a high cost to the group haveing lost the soldiers Bloom, Ramirez, and Seger as while as Ramona and her little girl in the slaughter and demoralizing planters. The issue ends with the remaining survivers burying their dead before setting off in the APC’s to complete their mission.  Note: there is also the Africa Corpse comic part 2 at the back of the issue.  Can’t wait till I get the next series “The Last Zombie Inferno” comics the covers look amazing. Comic Review – August 14, 2011

Hi Thunderscorpion here, I recently found out about the Walking Dead session 2 coming out on October 16th, the trailer looks awesome I wonder if they are going to kill Shane right away like they did in the comic. Also I’m excited about the Berserk Golden Age I – Egg of the Supreme King movie said to be coming out in 2012.  As you may have already guessed I’m a huge fan of Kentaro Miura’s Manga masterpiece Berserk.

Neon Genesis Evangelion Vol 12

The story continues with NERV under siege by an entire division of FSSDF troops directed by SEELE. They plan to kill all the Eva Pilots and stop commander Ikari.  As the invading army assaults NERV mercilessly killing all they encounter, Shinji is cut off from support and Mesoto orders a still unconscious Asuka to be placed inside her Eva and lowered to the bottom of the lake.  Meanwhile, a depressed Shinji who has lost the will to fight is discovered by the enemy and held at gun point, when suddenly Shinji’s father arrives to save him and then reviled the terrible truth that he is an angel and that he plans to forsake humanity and become a god for himself.   Elsewhere Asuka awakes inside unit 02 and recovers from her depression to take on all nine of the Eva series by herself and the volume ends with Mesoto tragically sacrificing herself to get Shinji to unit 01 only for him to get there and not be able to pilot it.  There is going to be another volume after this one hope they get it to us sooner than later, it surprised the hell out of me at the part when Gendo showed up and saved Shinji for a second there I thought that Gendo actually had a heart, but of course he’s has to follow it up with telling Shinji that he never loved him, no wonder Shinji’s so messed up is there any character in all of fiction more of a bastard then Gendo Ikari. I give this volume ( 9 out of 10).

28 Days Later # 19

The issue continues with Clint and Selena holding out inside of a building as the armed gun man calling himself Captain Stiles dresses a leg wound.  Clint quickly devises a plan and go’s for a hummve as Selena move’s to lure the captain away, before being picked up by Clint.  After escaping they sink the hummve and then cast off in a boat, but later at night while they sleep in the boat’s cabin the captain climbs aboard and forces Clint at gun point to dive off the boat before revealing to Selena that his reason for hunting her down is to get revenge for the death of this friend the late Major Henry West. ( 7 out of 10)

Rasl # 8

The story begins with Rasl recalling some of the events that happened in the previous issue such as his affair with Mile’s wife Maya and the destruction of the compound before returning to the point where the last issue left off with Rasl meeting the creepy little girl.  While in the company of Rasl the little girl takes off Rasl jacket and shirt before crossing off Rasl’s tatoo of Maya’s name with her fingers signifying that she was dead, then she draws a familiar symbol in the dirt surprising Rasl before a strange man arrives and startles him claiming to have met him in a parallel world and the issue ends with  the man telling Rasl that the creepy little girl is god. This issue felt way to short for a 3.50 cover priced issue you’d expect a little more volume still a great story (8 out of 10).

The Last Zombie # 4

The issue begins with doctor Ian Scott awakening fr0m a nightmare about his wife Jen to find doctor Bopari monitoring him, she then comments on her concern that he is exhibiting the symptoms of the zombie virus even thought he was not bitten. Meanwhile, an army of raiders rally’s for the attack on the town and kills one man for cowardice.  Elsewhere, SGT. Warner and Seger have a chat with the leopards leader Ned and find out that the pit that doctor Scott Fell into was contaminated with the dead body’s of  the infected and the issue ends with doctor Scott performing a test on himself only to learn the terrible truth that he in fact is infected, while at the same time the raiders attack the town in full force. I also note that at the back of this issue there is the short Afrika Korpse comic. This series is my second most favorite zombie comic out there next to the Walking dead of course I give The Last Zombie #4 (8 out of 10).

The Secret History Book 14

The  story continues now following a man named Monsieur Daniel as he leaves a repatriation center and visits the ruins of Arcane 17 to see a strange star-shaped symbol.  Later he goes to a man named Leon Vasil to have his prized tarot card apraised, but Leon offers on value only the history of the cards, and Daniel recollects his time spent at a german concentration camp and how he was given the card by a mysterious man he met there known only as Robert the Devil.  Later Daniel comes to the home of the Woman Baroness Corvo and after sleeping together they are intruded on by two former SS members out to get Daniel, but Daniel quickly snatches up the Baronesses framed tarot Card draining the woman of her youth in the process as he makes his getaway.  Afterwards, Daniel is captured and beaten, but he manages to kill his captures with a sneak attack and the volume ends with Erlin and Lady Aker making an apearance at the ruins of Arcane 17. Aliens Newt’s Tale Comic Review

Aliens Newt's Tale #1Aliens Newt's Tale #2

Hi Thunderscorpion here with my review of Aliens Newt’s Tale this two-part  issue series is the comic  book adaptation of the famous aliens movie the story pretty much follows the movies plot with the exception that it focuses more on what happens to the character Newt. The issue begin’s with Newt’s family discovering an alien ship while surveying, when suddenly Newt’s father is attacked by an alien face-hugger and they quickly returned him back to the colony for help. Later while inside the colony an alien chest-burster pops out of Newt’s father and the colonist start to get picked off one by one as they struggle to hold back the growing alien tide they begin  building barricades only to have them over run by aliens a mist the chaos Newt’s mother and brother are killed but Newt is able to get away using the mass of air ducks thru the colony’s complex. Later the marines arrive and it gets just like it was in the movie.  All-in-all this was a good comic most of the art wasnt mine blowing, but it was good and it added a little more plot to my favorite aliens movie, definately a must for any Aliens comic fan. Terminator The Burning Earth comic review

Hi Thunderscorpion here with a comic review for Terminator the burning earth which is the first ever terminator comic made, the story takes place in the future where mankind’s war against the machines is looking bleak, but John Conner and his comrades continues to fights desperate battle after desperate battle when they spot a fleet of hunter killers flying above carrying nukes. Realizing that Skynet means to wipe out humanity John Conner and his people decide to assault Thunder mountain the location of skynet’s CPU, but they find out that it’s gonna be an up hill battle as they fight their way in. However, things become increasingly more dramatic as the hunter killers start dropping the nukes and the earth itself begins to move causing tectonic quakes and eruptions beneath the earths crust, but thru the chaos Conner and his friends manages to get inside and start searching for the CPU, meanwhile, some of Conners other comrades scouts out the MT Thunder generator plant in the hope of finding a way to destroy it and take skynet offline. The art in this comic is the first published comic work of Alex Ross it is very painting like in its appearance.  Interestingly some of the terminators in this look more like the robots from Battle Star Galatica.  The comic as a whole was enjoyable I give it (7 out of 10).

Comic Review January 3,2011

Hi Thunderscorpion here, this will be the first post of the New Year which makes this blog a year old I can’t say that the blog is where I originally expected it to be at this point in time, but now I understand what I can realistically expect from this blog.  Although I was hoping to reach a larger audience by now I feel that I have helped a small amount of people find comics that they might not have otherwise discovered and that’s good enough for me.  Anyway, I’d like to wish you all a Happy New Year and also mention that sometime in the near future I will have a new post for you all on the best comic’s that I’ve read in 2010 till then have a good one.

Baltimore The Plague Ships #1

Baltimore The Plague Ships #1

I had somehow missed this comic when it first came out, but later when I learned that it had zombies in it well that’s all it took to get my ears perked. The story takes place in World War I in Europe where the war has ended due to a plague cased by vampires.  The issue starts off with Lord Baltimore chasing after a group of ghoulish zombies as they run thru the city streets and then on top a church, but as they climb a rope to reach a zeppelin flouting above suddenly a bolt of lighting strikes them and Lord Baltimore get tossed into the air and is knocked unconscious when he awakes and finds himself in a room with an old woman and her young grand-daughter named Vanessa Kalderas. Well with them he talks of his quest to kill a particular vampire called Haigus and the young woman named Vanessa  say’s that she had seen him and that the vampire that  he seeks  is at Livorno, but she wants him to take her away from the town in return. He denies her wish and walks out of the house only to be suddenly knocked out by the towns people and  he is taken to a prison cell where he is told he must stay until a man from the inquisition arrives to judge him and the issue ends with the young woman from before showing up at Lord Baltimore’s prison cell with an offer his freedom in exchange for him to take her with him to Livorno.  The art in this is done by Ben Stenbeck I liked his work in the living with the dead comics the guy sure can draw some great zombies.   I really liked this comic it was better than what I heard it was and I look forward to reading the next issue the preview for it looks fantastic I give this issue ( 8 out of 10 ).

Rasl #2

Rasl #2

In this issue many of my questions were answered as where the 1st issue revealed little and left me wondering what was going on the story continues in this issue with the time traveling art thief that we now know is named Rasl hence the title, so he returns home from what was apparently a parallel universe and he gives the painting that he stole to his girlfriend even thou it has a bullet hole in it from when he had that run in with that strange faced man in the trench coat leaving it worthless. After spending the night with her he goes out on the town and returns back home to find his girlfriend murdered and the part of the painting with the bullet hole in it cut out in a heart shape know doubt left as a warning from the strange man he had met before and the issue ends with Rasl strapping on his weird-looking machine and using it to travel to another parallel universe; where he is going I do not know, but I can’t wait to find out in the next exciting  issue of Rasl.  Also about the strange guy that Rasl meets in the first issue while in the 2 nd issue he is refered to as the lizard faced man, but I think he looks more like Joe Camel or something, anyway great comic I give it ( 8 out of 10)

P.S   I noticed that the back of the issues line up to make a  picture that was cool.

The Terminator 1984 #3

Terminator 1984 #3

In this final issue the group enjoys a time of peace at their hideout house in Mexico that is until the terminator arrives and a pregnant Sarah and Ben drive off in their get away car and Kyle stays behind to confront the Terminator, but he gets shot and Sarah orders Ben to stop the car so he can deliver her baby, but as the Terminator approaches their car a still alive Kyle fires a rocket at the Terminator and then finishes it off with a sledgehammer finally ending its rampage, but sadly Kyle’s wounds are to severe and he dies after talking with Sarah and Ben and seeing his new-born son.  The issue ends with glimpse of their future as Ben and Sarah live for the time happily and  at peace as they raise a very young John Conner. I liked this ending and I belive it was a very nice tribute to the Terminator movie’s ( 8 out of 10 ).

28 Days Later #17

28 Days Later #17

This issue starts off with Clint and Selena’s car running out of gas, but the two are luckily able to find a fruit tree and enjoy themselves, later they find a house and encounter a weak starved infected on the floor and they take a car from the house and continue down the road that is until they have to pull over and hid when a U.S hummve comes along and drives past them, later the two find a seemingly abandoned town and pick out a house to spend the night in.  After gathering up some supplies Clint surprises Selena with a bath tub with clean water and the two take turns enjoying a long-awaited bath.  The issue ends with Clint awakening to see Selena staring out the window sensing danger, so they make their way out back to their car only to get in and find that the keys have been taken.  Pretty good issue had a suspenseful ending  I give it. ( 7 out of 10)

Comic Review November 18,2010

Hi Thunderscorpion here I hope to have some more comics coming in soon so  expect more reviews later on which may include The Walking Dead Vol 13 if amazon was telling the truth about its release date being Nov 23, 2010 as well as many other great comics I’ve been looking forward too, also I recently got another flier for the Claremont packing house comic book  and collectibles show.  It is on Sunday, Nov 21st 10 am-5 pm at the same place if you want to go I probably won’t go it’s a really small event, but maybe I’ll get board and give it another shot if I do then I’ll be sure to review it.  Anyway here’s the comic reviews.

The Last Zombie #2

 The Last Zombie #2

In this issue Dr. Ian Scott and the convoy of two armored personnel carriers move further in to infected territory and while driving down a ruin towns street they find a little girl standing in the road alone so they quickly move towards the girl and soon discover that she is not alone when her mother comes running out to protect her after the team explains their good intentions  the woman and her child are relieved, but their relief is short-lived as the scent of rotten flesh fills the air and zombies start moving towards them in the chaos of the moment and after coming face to face with the undead Dr.Ian take’s off running and trips and  falls into a hole filled with many dead body’s and the issue’s first story ends there and then; the unholy night comic which was featured in the A Very Zombie Christmas comic is in the issue, but I’ve already reviewed that and I still really like it. Anyway’s the whole issue’s story was great and I look forward to the next one I give it (8 out of 10) if you like zombie’s then pick this comic up.

The Terminator 1984 #2

The Terminator 1984 #2

This issue starts off with a terminator in human form being transported to the year 1984 and beginning its search for Sarah Conner.  Meanwhile at the US /Mexico border Ben talks with Sarah Conner and learn’s that she is pregnant and that the father is Kyle Reese so he try’s to convince her not to go on their planned rescue of  Kyle because of the importance of her unborn child, but in the end Sarah Conner gets her way and the two decide to leave together  to get back their friend Kyle, meanwhile at the military base where Kyle is being held, Ben and Sarah sneak their way in and rescue’s Kyle, but while they where making their escape they find the remains of a terminator that the government is trying to piece back together so Ben blows up what was left of it and they make their get away, but as they drive away from the scene they encounter the newly sent terminator from the beginning of the issue as it climbs on top of their get away vehicle and try’s to get at them, but they are able to lose it by driving the car into a construction site and crashing the car into a barrier sending the terminator flying into tons of wet concrete and sinks as they slip away into the night.  The issue ends with us learning that a hand still remains of the terminator that was blown up and with the terminator that sank in the wet concrete breaking free three weeks later and continuing its pursuit (7 out of 10).

Aliens vs Predator#1 for 1.00

Aliens vs Predator#1 for 1.00

I bought this issue for purely nostalgic reasons I all ready have the original 1st printing issue’s of the first Aliens vs Predator comics the thing is that I have not read them because I’m waiting to read it all together in the Aliens vs Predator Omnibus whenever I get it, anyway I really liked this issue the story was pretty great it centers around a woman named Mackiko  whose job it is to manage a community of ranchers on a planet called Ryushi, but the ranchers dislike her because she was unavailable for six months working in her office, but things get interesting when a predator ship drops alien eggs on the planet and an alien queen is unintentionally born making the predators hunt perhaps to difficult to achieve.  I can’t wait to read the rest of this story later on I give this issue. (8 out of 10)

28 Days Later #16

28 Days later#16

The issue begins with Selena in a dreamlike state where she talks to many of her now dead friends that she had met throughout their journey after this moment of hallucination reality sinks in to reveil that she is still standing inside of the mannequin cage with infected still reaching for her, but then suddenly she is rescued by a group of Glasgow people on a planed raid to steal King Dixon’s people’s food supplys so she join’s forces with them just long enough for her to rescue Clint and recover her stolen earings and they escape together as the Glasgow and Edinburgh factions battle in the streets the issue ends with Clint and Selena resting in their get away car after having gotten far enough away from the violence at Edinburgh.  The art has changed yet again and I still wish it was better and more consistent. (7 out of 10)

Berserk vol 8

Berserk vol 8

This volume starts off with the band of the hawks still in the heat of the battle as Guts faces off with the enemy’s leader General Boscogn, but Gut’s sword is broken after having had endured his previous fights in which he slayed a hundred men, but luckly for him a large sword is thrown from out of know where and Gut is able to utilise it to beat General Boscogn at the same time Casca and her men were able to defeat their ambushers and take the castle all but ending the battle in victory for the band of the hawks.  After their string of successes in the campagne the band of the hawks returns to midland as heroes and a banquet is held in honor of Griffith, but soon after Griffith is proclaimed white phoenix general and the members of the band of the hawk the white phoenix knights he is given a poisoned drink and he collapses on the floor to the shock of this friends, but Griffith is still alive and in fact had planned this event to find who his true enemy are so when he discovers that the queen of midland and her loyal subjects where behind his attempted assassination he has the structure that they reside in burned with them still in side, but after Griffith had dealt with his enemy’s one thing that he did not count on happens when Guts decides to leave even after the band of the hawk pleads for him to stay, but he insist’s that he must go and follow his own dreams in stead of living in the shadow of Griffiths dream but it would seem not so easy as Griffith refuse’s to let him leave unless he can defeat him and an epic duel acurse.  The volume ends with Guts taking his leave after he shocking defeated his friend Griffith.(9 out of 10)
